Interesting article, plus a (possibly inaccurate) AF quote!

As a reply, I give you something I found in the latest Esquire:

What are your thoughts? Esquire can sometimes be 100% pure generalizations, but this was, all the same, and interesting read.

That sounds pretty odd to me, but I have met some girls before who wanted and tried to turn a gay guy straight.

I am going to totally ignore everything you just said and make a comment about your avatar.

LOL! That makes 3 people in this community who (AFAIK) have watched Excel saga.

Now, feeling mildly abashed for derailing my own thread, I will return to the topic.

I still think the idea is a bit strange. where's the logical rationale for it? :|

That is totally not what I meant.

I dont think women want to date bearded ogre twats.

You thought I said they dont want to date gay men either.

What I actually meant was:

Gay men don't want to date bearded ogre twats either.

As a gaaaay man, I think the brutish cba man is well, unnattractive. I also think the overpruned camp man with styled eyebrows is horrific, if I had a boyfriend decide to be all camp and queeny then I'd have a huge problem because I find the excessive campness deeply unnattractive.

Gay men dont want boyfriends who wear stilettos, they want hot blooded man tears and rippling muscles, stubble and an scottish/irish accent, just like straight women! and I'm sorry but bleached blonde hair, or a greasy face with yellow teeth just don't cut it

I agree.

People are not insects which is why they don't act exactly the same way some insects do towards some flowers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h8I3cqpgnA). This article is making a gross over-generalization. That sort of rational is just incorrect.

Big overgrown beards? no no

Uber cut over the top attention designer beards? plain weird, trying too hard

Short nice looking ones that have just had a plain shave and been elft for 4 or 5 days? tastey

I don't think beards look that great unless you are 30+ and/or greying

the article seems like nonsense to me.
if vampire fiction is so popular (is it? at least in german tv there is none of that series) it might be because the vampires problems are similiar of the young readers/watchers: strange things happening with your body, fitting in with a group, not being understand, etc. See Harry Potter for an example.
And that "impossible love between human & vampire" is just a variation of the poor/rich relation ala romeo and juliette.
---
I like old/trashy horror/action movies (godzilla for president) but for some reasons vampire movies are not very entertaining. The vampires often seem arrogant in a non-cool way.
Also, whats the name of that cartoon series about a vampire who kills people with two large pistols? I think in the beginning he turns a cop (?) into a vampire because otherwise she would have died. At one point she is surprised she can pick up and fire a large AT rocketlauncher because of megamagic strength.

The vampire cartoon is Hellsing. An OVA series just recently started which follows the original manga story. Basically, there is now less character development and more furries.

I got through the first episode... What prevents me from continuing is that I know I'd have to watch the first episode again, since it's been so long.

I for one welcome the fascination our culture has gained for vampires, since it means more Castlevania games. Furthermore, my sickly white monitor tan might turn into an asset if this keeps up.

And seriously, whatever prettyboy teenage vampire hollywood comes up with, it's not touching this:

(not a vampire, but it's ok, she transcends petty distinctions like "not a...")

Old friend of mine is a bear. Not all gay men share AF's opinions on beards... his boyfriend has the stereotypical massive Unix-admin beard.

/I'm bearded myself, but I keep it nicely trimmed with clippers - the wife would actually prefer it longer, but I like looking like I'm in my 20s.
