It is sphere decloaking, but tech 1 bombers seem to occasionally decloak a commander by flying over, as the bomber seems to not always be on the same plain of height every time. It seems to be rather unique attribute of tech 1 bombers.

If they land next to an object you want them to still decloak it, for the sake of game consistency. Thus the preferable solution is, rather than to prevent them from causing decloak at all, to somehow prevent them from causing decloak while flying.

gunships sometimes rapes a com even with cloak on simply because one flies close enough to make a decloak

But is that a bug or a feature? If you ran Peewee along in a line and ran into a commander it would be uncovered, it shouldn't be any different with aircraft low enough to detect.

i agree with you on the technical side but when it comes gameplay its a bit different imo. cloak is your only chance to somehow get away if you forgot/dont have enough AA so it kinda sux when your E storage is full but you still get uncloaked :/ air is not ment to uncloak units imo.

Gunships decloaking com (when microd) is fine imo. However, bombers doing it in normal flight is a bit FUBAR.

I always kinda thought gunship as com counter was a pretty nasty mechanic

They are extremely expensive, with the high e cost and bt locking your build power down pretty hard while you rush/mass them, and they are countered for significantly less than cost in ground based t1 aa, mobile or static, which as well as being a hard counter to gunnies, is effective vs land.

It's frustrating if you get caught off guard by them, or when in team games the enemy has easy air superiority and can freely mass them, in that case I would prefer bombers as they are much quicker to mass.
