Yeah I didn't notice it before your post either, but they're under the games & mods section.

Why is the "Project Subforums" hidden until I login? I wished for something as open as the rest of Spring forum (in which you don't have to login to see the existence of, and even read).

It was me who asked for a bunch of threads to be moved. Do I have to resend PM or what?

seriously, can you show subforums in the forum listing so I know if there is a post in the general mod/games discussion? Honestly can you do that because it is annoying to open the mod/games forum to then have to go to the subforums to then open a subforum?

Fixed in the most tedious way possible.

Also made the subforum show up on the top level.

No, I'll find it, just quickly browsing through the 8 some odd PMS I got I didn't see it.

I guess it's time for me to quit posting about what I'm doing with P.U.R.E. here. It's kinda pointless, since now all of the favored mods + stickies get most of the screen on my window... I can't even see the topmost post in the Forum that this stuff is supposedly "sub" to. And I'm not willing to participate in this, either, for the same reasons that I've continued to boycott the front page. Lock my threads, I mean it this time. I'll be around for engine stuff and to help people, but I'm tired of this nonsense, and the views I get here are like 2% of my views a month now.

What are you trying to do, twist my arm? We're doing something nice for the game development community here, it's been active for 1 day, no one is claiming finality of the current forum setup or format. We're trying to find a setup that suits everyone, so maby we're not there yet, why don't you threaten to quit the community?

I'm not going to be bullied by content creators, if something is legitimately beneficial to the community, then argue for it, I'm a rational guy, I'll probably get it. I don't have hours to spend reading forum posts, so if it's over 500 words I might not be able to get around to it, but my moderators and I have absolutely no interest in screwing up your day just for the hell of it.

These attempts at powerplays do absolutely nothing for your cause. Honestly, it just pissed me off, my knee jerk reaction is to do everything in my power to make sure you don't get your way. I'm not going to risk damaging the community just to spite you, so instead I'll pretend it didn't happen. When you have something mature to add feel free to rejoin the conversation.

Personally I think I would like a new category better, e.g. introduce a new category "Games and mods", move the current Games and Mods forum into it and rename it to "Other Games and Mods", and put all the game/mod specific forums into this category. Content creation category would stay with only "Art & Modeling" and "Map discussion" forums inside.

(I don't like subforums.)

EDIT; oh wait lol what you just did is pretty good too :-)

The problem is that here Argh might get actual critics instead of mindless praise, and he won't even be able to trim everything negative like when it's posted on his own turf.

I didn't want to marginalize projects that don't have their own "official forum" by giving them so much less frontpage forum space.

Meh. I'm sleep-deprived and very grumpy. The decision to leave wasn't meant as arm-twisting, that was just the last straw. I really haven't enjoyed maintaining release threads here since Merc Squad, and I have been totally honest about why. It was just a matter of time, and I don't think the community really loses anything of value, either.

Yeah, I throw out tidbits about what code will be available via new features in the game or World Builder, but the freak-show circus surrounding my project every week isn't useful to either the engine developers or to me (it's probably scared off wanna-bes and people wanting to look at the engine, just on sheer horror at how things go), and whatever entertainment value baiting me has is really not worth the psychic cost, tbh. I'm under enough stress already.

really its like zwsg said, the spring community is brutally honest most of the time and you will get the best critiques on a game from people who understand the engine itself. There has been quite a bit of praise for PURE on these forums but i feel you that you ignore it on purpose or something. And make it out to be that people are just hating on PURE.

Mindless praise wont get PURE very far, as you wont find out most of the bugs/problems that come with the game and like i said your best testers are within this community. Isolating yourself from the spring playerbase in a game that has proven to be quite buggy aswell as having other gameplay issues is a bad thing. Most of your bugs have been spotted by players on this forum. Im sure you cant say the same for your Moddb page.

I didnt really think the per mod sub-forums were needed. Imo there should be a different criteria to judge if a mod is worthy of a sub forum. It shouldnt be due to players or posts on a thread. Imo it should be judged on the quality of the content and signs of being in serious development.

You have such a monumentally huge feeling of entitlement it's not even funny.

Well, really it is. Actually, I'm giggling IRL.

hey this setup seems optimal, with games and mods on top but subforams being a bit on front page.
