But is it that hard to factor this 25-digit or so number to find N and (other stuff)? It just doesn't seem safe to use such a small N.

Can we please stop trying to exploit the game mechanics and rather start playing the game? You idiots keep trying to bypass the no-pm rule which is essential for the game to work. Fuck you.

It's just that there's nothing productive to do at the very beginning, Regret.

I have to admit it, you geeker people are taking it way to far, stop making it more complicated than it already is.

The rules have been set, don't mess with them, regardless of wether your a mod for this forum or not.

3 Votes for lurker so far.
Except wolfs are allowed to PM, so it doesn't make any difference at all to figure out who is the wolf.

Lurker: You're not allowed you use stuff related to your spring admin status to cheat the game. So things like people's lobby password hashes are off limits. Really, any previous information that was shared between users that could be used for encoding is off limits. If you can figure out a way to post publically some encryption key that will somehow be unbreakable to certain people, that's fine. But keep in mind, all that kind of communication has to be public.

[edit]Honestly, personally I think the rules against communication are stupid and serve no purpose to the game other to make it shallower, less interesting, and have arbitrary reasons to kick people out based on wild paranoya. I'd be quite happy to just have those rules disappear entirely. I've played/watched well over 10 forum based TWGs, all with private communication allowed, and I've never seen it do anything but add significantly to depth of the game. I can't really think of any scenario where it's a detractor. Right now we can't even have a lobby TWG channel because we're not allowed to.

Even if someone tells you something like "I'm the seer" or "I'm the wolf" you have absolutely no way of trusting them.

I'll just take it that you went into those particular details because you wanted to make a strong point.

Not using any previous information is a good rule, poor Beherith putting his plan together for nothing.

Public key encryption is based on everyone talking out in the open via the use of a one-way mathematical function to keep things secure.

Hoi didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition. He was a villager.

Wolves, please send 1 PM with your night kill to me.
Seer, please PM me with your peek.

If I get both those in by noon tomorrow (12 hours from now) I'll start day early. If not, they're due by midnight (24 hours from now).

Sorry I'm late, was out towing my broken-down car home with a friend's truck.

SwiftSpear is pining for the fjords. He is a night-killed (eaten) villager.

15 players remaining - 4 wolves, 1 seer, 10 villagers.

Majority night rules are in effect from here on out - if at any point a player has 8 votes, night is declared and that player is lynched. If you believe that majority has been reached, post **** MAJORITY NIGHT **** and bug me... once night is declared, no posting of content until it's been dealt with (you can post vote counts and work out any errors to make sure it actually is night).

Also, I'll seek replacement for anyone who hasn't posted by the end of today. Hoi, SwiftSpear, let me know if you want to be subbed back in.

It is day.

One thing I forgot to mention, please don't edit posts within the game topic - if you have to make a correction do it in another post; if you accidentally out yourself as wolf, oh well. (The spirit of the rule goes back to the game originally being a live party game - and you can't edit something you say live!)
