Free space MMORPGs

I'm aware there was an older topic about MMORPGs, but that has little information about space, (besides EVE).

So right now here I'm on a stalemate at which games to play. The holidays are here and I can't waste time playing Nexuiz or Spring like that. MMORPGs seem to be the answer for my boredom, but I would like to try something else. Space MMORPGs. What do you recommend? I don't have money to spend so I'm looking for freeware or at least freeware to an extent. (pay to access more features!)

I can think of sidescroller MMOs that are decent and follow that format, but I can't think of any space based MMOs.

Starport GE is awesome 2D space side scroller MMORPG, free unless you want pretty ships. Lots fun! :)

I played Starport GE and it does not suit me very much (too little ships). What else?

Last time I played it (2007?) it was imba as hell, had a meh interface, and it's still one of those games where those who pay get more powerful stuff.

Can't say I recommend this one.

A nice, simple little turn-based game, http://www.Solarfleet.com. I really enjoy it but I don't know what it is you are looking for exactly. It's free to play so long as you don't mind being restricted to one sector or not being able to get rank inside an empire. Pay to play is 5$ monthly.
