My definition of spam is pointless chat with no meaning or subject. For example, "SPAM SPAM SPAM"is spam. But now that I have left FU, there seems to be a new meaning. So tell me, what is your definition of spam?

Missing the point here, but:

"Too much spam" is a complaint leveled at many mods. Sometimes it means "this mod encourages use of only a single unit type," and is simply an unclear way of saying that. (However, "too much X unit spam" is clearer.) Sometimes it refers to performance issues caused by having too many units. More often, though, it's simply a way for one to criticize a disliked mod without having to think of a real reason why not like it. So, before accusing a mod of "too much spam," ask yourself this: what the hell else do you expect players to spend their resources on?

SPAM is a meat based near-food product of copious prevalence and dubious merit.

SPAM in an RTS is a flood of nearly useless units who overwhelm an opponent through sheer annoyance rather then tactical superiority. A derivative of this concept applies to "filling the screen with messages" such as post count SPAM or posting the same-thing over and over again into a forum or chat-room.

As such, SPAM on the internet can also refer in general to a useless message containing no value to the target audience. This could be an advertising message, such as in email or forum bot-posts. It is also often applied to messages people post that have nothing to do with the forum in which it is posted or which add nothing to the conversation... some people interpret this as trying to increase post-count as well.

The general consensus on what SPAM is goes back to the meat-based near-food product on which the metaphor is built. Something easy to produce and obtain, copious, not adding any real value and annoying (thanks to Monty Python for the last one).
