Springs player base is diminishing?

Post by manored »

I am under the impression that yes, but impressions are vile, so I throw this as a question. Could whoever has acess to graphs show the one from the lastest months? :)

Thanks :) The results vary a lot from one day to other tough, and there is no player total, so its quite hard to say if it increased or reduced. Seens to not have done either to me.

I saw this game quite a while ago, over a year ago i think, but it looked too beta for me. I forgot about it for a while but luckily stumbled on it again. Hopefuly as the game gets more polished, the players will come to join in.

Wait till everyone beats GTA4 or whatever other retail game has their attention at the moment, they'll come wandering back.

Or blame it on Dwarf Fortress, which I think may have redirected many of our attentions.

People who play DF aren't really in direct competition for player hours as spring players IMO. The games are just too different. You play DF to play a DF like game, you play spring to play a spring like game. If I wasn't playing DF I wouldn't be playing spring, I'd be playing some other DF like game, like maby the sims, or some RPG.

Last year we were in competition with supcom remember. Retail games have existed long before spring came out, they won't lose us any more users now then they did in the beginning.

Can anyone compile a graph of say, players joined and games played over the last say, 6-12 months? That way we can see a clear trend.

It wouldn't be hard to do if someone knew where the stats data was logged.

Can anyone tell me what the numbers stand for? For example on 24/2/08 BA had 833443. But 833443 what?

Minutes*players

One hour in a 8v8 DSD game = 16 hours added.

I discovered dwarf fortress via the spring forum. I currently play more Spring because I'm waiting for the next major update to dwarf fortress.

In some sense very different games. But they are both strategic. And both attract me more for the interesting game play, rather than flash graphics.

I think the population of newbs is steady, the population of competative players is not.

Just wait till the next version spring comes out, new people always appear.

I think P.U.R.E will attract a good few people too.
