New Blender logo

Post by Tim Blokdijk »

I'm playing around with Blender to make a new logo.
I like some feedback.
The old logo I made:

I really like the new improved version. The old one seemed too quickly slapped together.

This one has some nice flare to it. Have you ever thought of texturing it with something? Textures really liven things up, even if the logo is meant to be simple.

I think this is starting to look better.
It's not finished jet but imo I fixed the 'polygonated' thing.
Doomweaver?

This will probably be the last chance for people to comment on it before I'm pleased with it and I'm not going to change it anymore.
Alantai Firestar?
Is this looking tacky and professional?
I'm actually expecting some comment from you.

I will release all file's under the GPL once it's done so it can be improved by others (you).

You just posted before I did.
What do you think about the last render?

I do think about texturing it, but it's easier once the shape is done.
If I find the time to texture it btw.
It will be optional anyway as I'm a bit afraid that I will force a style sort off speak on the Spring community.
I like to see the WD mod use this logo with another texture then OTA mod ect.

This is annoying. For some reason my school filters out your site Tim. I can never see any of your images. It even goes as far as to say its filtered for Porn for some reason. What have you on on this site of yours?

Thanks, the text needs to be changed indeed.

shnorb, can you put your finger on it?
As "iffy" is not something I can change.

I will try to give 2.3 a little sharper spikes but not so much as 2.1 has.
The spikes from 2.1 just show a little more power.

The modeling is great :)

I think you must work on material now ;) (specular map?)

I would look around for some font that you can use for the text. Or better yet, it would be even cooler to make your own.

Version 2.2 ain't bad, but there is something about it that makes the sun look polygonated still (even though it isn't ). I think maybe smooth out the edge that is visible inside the sun (as in, not the outer or inner edges, the middle one.)

Smooth it even more?
I actually think that edge looks better on v2.1, it has more power in it.
Anyway 2.3 is actually a tiny bit smoother.

Version 2.3

I'm not that satisfied with the font, but it's *different*

Just a quick fix, this is about the max 'smooth' I can give it whout having to change the model itself.
This is what you mean right?

Yeah,..
I mean, I really don't have the time, so don't mention those idea's.

Anyway, I found some nice GPL fonts here.
We can use FontForge (apt-get install fontforge) to edit them.
Something for later maybe.

mmh theses fonts are cool but I don't think it goes with TA spirit (it seems too much happy,no?), could you try this font?
http://www.theory.org/~matt/fonts/free/?font=ruf

It looks a little bit destroyed, okay it's spring, but it's total ANNIHILATION too

hmmm... to be painfully honest i dont really like most of those fonts... but the first one isnt that bad...

as for the logo... i think i know whats bugging me... i dont like the shadows on the inside of the logo. i think losing the shadows from the inside part would not only promote simplicity (which is what we want isnt it.. something sweet and simple) but also add a little more balance...

what are your thoughts...?
