Re: S:44 Dump
Amazing, i can't wait until this thing comes out.
I used to do a lot of reading before on Katyushas, and have some facts to offer, if anyone's interested.
- yes, they really did sound that horrible, loud, and scary. Germans didn't call them "Stalin's Organ" without a reason
- they were overpowered too, they were the "wild card" of the soviet commanders. Before a battle, they served as an excellent artillery preparation, since they would launch their load in literally seconds.
- they raised a lot of dust. Even on hard ground. Here's a video showing it off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2rLm3Sc ... re=related
- they weren't completely accurate - as in rockets would turn in their path.
- being truck-mounted, they were quite mobile too - they could fire & then drive away before the other side could really respond.
- took a long while to reload. Hauling the 42kg rockets into place wasn't so fun.
- there were the ZiS-6 and ZiS-5 versions, but latter in the war, the American Studebaker US6 was used as it offered better portability
Hope that helps!

Re: S:44 Dump
A short vid that spiked made of our katy in action. May add more dust to the launching process at some point (we don't want to lag it up too much though).

Re: S:44 Dump
you should be fine, I have the doms kicking out particles as they move. that emitter actually eats more particles then dust would.
Re: S:44 Dump
I'd advice against that actually. Dark, almost black dirt on impact areas works a bit better, but to do any decent dust you would first have to identify what kind of material (map texture) the unit is sitting on at the moment. Is it snow, perhaps it is in a town on asphalt, or out in the desert?
So don't add dust unless you are willing to go through the effort of doing that and changing the colour (or removing it entirely) as necessary.

Re: S:44 Dump
It can only vary from light (sand) to dark (almost everywhere) or white-grey (snow).
But yes, if it's too much effort to check the ground below, it's ok to skip it.

Re: S:44 Dump
This could be reflected in game by very long reload times in addition to extremely high energy(logistics) cost from firing.Vadi wrote: - took a long while to reload. Hauling the 42kg rockets into place wasn't so fun.

Re: S:44 Dump
The way things are now, energy is only used up when restocking vehicle's ammo supply so it would be long reloadtime + large energy usage while reloading.

Loving the air strip and those mustang textures, gorgeous.
The tent could be better done though, the geometry specifically, but the texture too (I realise at the moment it is a WIP and it probably hasn't been textured at all).
I've found using alpha can make for a very realistic camo tent texture.
You can sort of see what I've done on the uploaded pic.
Star Wars Spring followers, please note - this is an outdated screenshot compared to the ones shown on our website and on our art thread. I'm at work, and it was the only one I could find online (it was sitting in our dev forum) of the rebel barracks

Yeah, but dunno if he can work much with that geometry, it just looks odd
Re: S:44 Dump
The hangars look a bit small on the airfield - are they supposed to be able to have an aircraft parked in em, or were they little mini hangars for personnel and stuff only?
