Careful, not every package is uploaded yet, so let's wait a little bit before we go "live" since otherwise it'll be a bit of a hassle and might produce weird errors due to missing dependencies.Tobi wrote:Launchpad PPAs can be considered an option

Re: Ubuntu APT repository
So you guys are using the proper ubuntu launchpad for packages now??
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Thankyou-thankyou-thankyou! I'll test now - I've got a clean installation.Tobi wrote:Launchpad PPAs can be considered an option

Ah, yes, not everything is up yet and it complains:
I'll wait 'till it is.vadi@ubuntu:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install spring
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
spring: Depends: spring-lobby-springlobby but it is not installable or
spring-lobby but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
vadi@ubuntu:~/Desktop$
clericvash: Um, there is no "proper" way to make a ubuntu package. At least it doesn't necessarily involve launchpad

Re: Ubuntu APT repository
I didn't mean it like that, i just meant ubuntus launchpad. I didn't know you could host packages with it.
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
The downside of launchpad is that everything hosted there needs to be free software, so we can't put up the OTA content (though we could put mods depending on it).
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Right. That's the maps/mods that were downloadable from unknown-files.net before, yeah?
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Sweet, more stuff uploaded. Just a note though - the "-y" flag has to be removed, since lauchpad gives the "warning! Stuff not authenticated" warnings atm and -y dislikes that.
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
There's an issue with the unitsync library; springlobby said that it couldn't determine the version and I can't join any online games.
I'm on 64bit Ubuntu 7.10.

Springlobby->options->Unitsync library should say:Vadi wrote:There's an issue with the unitsync library; springlobby said that it couldn't determine the version and I can't join any online games.

/usr/lib64/spring/unitsync.so
Do you have an old by-hand install around confusing it? If you ever installed from source, things could be not "clean" if you then also installed the packages.

Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Will these packages work on hardy alphas? I am upgrading at the moment to see what the fuss is about.
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Yes, it was that. Weird, second time I launched spring lobby, it didn't complain.YokoZar wrote:Springlobby->options->Unitsync library should say:Vadi wrote:There's an issue with the unitsync library; springlobby said that it couldn't determine the version and I can't join any online games.

@clericvash: it should, just add "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu hardy main" instead of the word gutsy.
Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Just wanting to know - are the mods coming, or should we install them ourselves?
(installing all maps was so easy!)

Re: Ubuntu APT repository
Uh, Wiki instructions for Ubuntu don't work. The .gpg file seems to be non-existent.

Only kernel panic is coming. We can't put OTA content up there.Vadi wrote:Just wanting to know - are the mods coming, or should we install them ourselves?

As soon as they finalize a little more and make slower releases that I can keep up with...
