Core Leveler +1

Core Leveler tank remodel.

I only have 2 vehicles left for Core, being the Construction truck and the Wolverine Artillery units.

imo the "fins" on the side of the turret that are perpendicular to the barrel look too large

looks good otherwise. Plans after finishing core lvl1?

I would like it if the barrel was wider.

Revision.

I shrank down the side protrusions and got the barrel as wide as I could get it while still keeping a bevel on the sleeve.

Hope the muzzle brake isn't too much, thought it might compensate for the radius being smaller (rounder).

I would prefer not to use a rectangle for the barrel, even though it occupies more space and looks wider.

590 triangles.

Yet another epic win for the Core. Can't wait to see the texture.

I acctually really like the muzzle break. Give it some love when texturing and it will look amazing.

Looking good Mr.D. This has probably been asked a thousand times, but what do you model in?

Well getting a full version copy of 3d_studiomax isn't easy, and its an expensive program.

I was lucky that my brother still had his copy from college and he could give it to me.

There are plenty of good free modeling programs, just not many of them have all the bells and whistles like Max has.

Anyway, I got it unwrapped and all the animated objects ready to go and into .s3o format, gonna start texturing it now.

What do you guys think of a panel style like this?

It follows the geometry a little better, thought I'd try something new.

But will this make the leveler stand apart from the other models I've already made and make it not blend well with those others?

Looks good, don't worry it's a good thing that it doesnt match perfectly with the others. This should add some medium range detail, think about splitting up the thing in 2 main color areas for some long range detail. For example the turret could have some non camo areas.

I think that's a big step forward in the texture department, so I definetely wouldn't shy away from it because it wouldn't match with your old stuff.
