Re: No more renaming.
Example of a new registry system:
Send an email in to this forum request for your account, therefore, the moderators are the only ones able to produce accounts and may email the user their ID. Then they log into their ID and Set up a username and password.
This would prevent multiple accounts, and any permenant ban you wish for is a permanant ban.
Also try and make that you can only One Active Connection to the server per computer per LAN.
I'm just throwing you bones, I'm not going to chew them for you.

Re: No more renaming.
No this is unacceptable, new players would be even more discouraged to try out the game if the procedure to register would become that complicated. And only 1 connection per LAN is also unacceptable, there are actually people who are behind same NAT that play the game (like me and my neighbor).Complicated wrote:Example of a new registry system:

I said One User Per Computer You can only open one springlobby per computer.Betalord wrote: And only 1 connection per LAN is also unacceptable.
Scratch the LAN part, mistyped what I meant to say ¬¬
I'm tired..
No gaming community is perfect in that sense, infact far from it, you can't improve anything by deterating something else.Betalord wrote: Discourages players
EG, only one account per user, quantum will become depressed unable to sign into both [k]quantum and [LCC]quantum
No matter what change you do, you will always discourage players in one way at the very least.

Re: No more renaming.
Or we can keep it the current way it is and ignore the whole (imo stupid) issue of smurfing and all that crap.

Re: No more renaming.
Not to mention I won't be able to run bots from my computer while playing elsewhere.
Re: No more renaming.
this sucks - on slow days i sometimes have to wait ages for a 1v1 without smurfing.
Re: No more renaming.
I used to keep two open, one for the regular server and one for the test server.Complicated wrote:I said One User Per Computer You can only open one springlobby per computer.Betalord wrote: And only 1 connection per LAN is also unacceptable.

Re: No more renaming.
I'm against complicated registration (collecting emails, disallowing multiple accounts).
Let people play undercover if they want.
Also, most simple registration is friendly for newcomers.

Re: No more renaming.
One per computer is NEVER going to work. It's far too easy to get around that.
Just disable renames, have a /clan tag. Seems good nuff to me.

Re: No more renaming.
This name freeze feature seems to me like a waste of time. There are far more important things in the lobby client needs such as a tagging system for maps (so you can group them into categories and search via these) or incorporation of single player missions.
Edit: An inbuilt tournament registration and game tracking system similar to the way the ladder works would be nice too.

Re: No more renaming.
Denying users the option to rename will just result in people creating more new accounts which will ultimately lead to further fucking up the rank system since there will be much more low rank yet experienced players.
