Hello. I just tried to install the ubuntu packages on my vanilla gutsy system. It doesn't work. Launching spring directly gives me a an error "missing default cursor". I'm happy to help troubleshoot the .debs, and I imagine I'm one of the few people who are using the .debs and hadn't previously compiled on their system, so this error may not have shown up for them. Anyway, there it is. "missing default cursor".

You are probably lacking the OTA content.

Ahh. That is probably it. Perhaps the wiki should be updated to explain how to install it and where to get it from. I would be happy to do that, if someone would explain how to do it. I could get it off the original cd-rom, but I doubt that's an option available to most people. Perhaps it could be packaged into another .deb?

YokoZar:

I suppose http://buildbot.no-ip.org/ is down for reason?

So at least I (and one friend of mine) can't currently follow the guide:
http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/SetupGuide#Ubuntu

Connection gets timed out:

"buildbot.no-ip.org|83.133.116.4|:80...
Connection timed out."

If your(?) server is running, that may also be dyndns's fault (isn't no-ip.org dyndns's?).

The data center is down due to a fire (AFAIK it's that server of UF in particular that's hosted there):

I've been getting late game sync errors in complete annihilation

(might be misquoting him)Licho said it was because of a lobby related bug that wasn't correctly settings a fire/flame related option.

I'm asking for the release of a newer lobby client package.

edit: i had no problem compiling from source http://trac.springlobby.info/wiki/Install

Ahah...

Is there any other way to get the same? (short of compiling - that makes things messy...)

I'm getting the same errors as the others
alex@Optimus:~$ sudo wget http://buildbot.no-ip.org/~yokozar/apt/ ... gutsy.list
--22:04:21-- http://buildbot.no-ip.org/~yokozar/apt/ ... gutsy.list

.....
Can you post the IP or other method of connecting to your replacement server?

Can Launchpad PPAs be considered an option?

Or anything really? I can't get the game at all for a week now...

Launchpad PPAs can be considered an option :P

https://launchpad.net/~spring/+archive

Code: Select all

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main
Maybe someone could update the wiki?
