whats wrong with spring performance?

Post by hawkki »

So, i ask you whats wrong with the performance of spring, since i get +10000 3dmarks in 3dmark 06 but run spring at 10fps with all settings maxed out?

Spring should not be this slow, i should get +100fps with my system. Any ideas?

Turning water down one notch would probably give you a good 20-40 more fps.

change affinity to 1 processor (assuming you have a dual core), it will more than double your fps, also the difference in performance if you lower the settings a bit is vast compared to the tiny graphical loss.

Also, read my tips for nVidia users (posted in Development). It really helps a lot.

you dont need to set affinity to one core, just download the latest drivers

There also dule core optimsation setting in the nvida settings... this servely screews spring (for some reason) and as it gives like 1 or 2 frames a second more in other games its best just to turn it off.... I went from 10 fps to about 100. So its a good thing to do.

if you have shadows on, turn them off. with shadows, i get about 10-15fps and without them, i get a min around 150fps.

You get over 10,000 3dmarks in 06? That's a load of crap unless you've got quad SLI and a core 2 extreme or something stupid. In which case, throw some of those thousand dollar bills you wipe your ass with at the devs and ask them to use it to fix multi-processor support.

i have core2 e6600 2gig ram and gf8800gts, so i use the 8800 series only -drivers.

Which options are needed for these to be made in driver config? threaded optimization?

tested it :]]]

turned threaded optimization off and my fps went 30 -> 300 :]

That seems to be really important to do.
