Question: do you have any vague skeleton of a plot in mind? That would suggest names. Earth vs. Colonies? Man vs. Machines? Liberals vs. Conservatives? Good vs. Evil?

Atlas -> Regret

Since you've no interest in a plot for this game, I'd just keep it simple and just say "good" vs "evil".

You've got it the wrong way round. The colour of their buildpics say that arm is good and core is evil. (hasn't wc1&2 taught you anything?)core -> good

This pope claim is serious but I have not noticed it myself. Please post an image with the pope and arm commander side by side so that I can compare.

Ok, for serious now:
I think one of the best things you can do for naming is to get rid of "silly" sounding names. For example, what mech pilot in his right mind would want to pilot a "Peewee"? Or "Jeffy". Even names like "Rocko" or "Thud" are overly descriptive and sound silly.
"Stumpy". Really?!?!
Whatever the units end up being called, it needs to reflect the unit's role and most importantly, sound like something a soldier would be proud of.
Names like "Hawk", "Panther", or "Reaper" do sound a little cliche, but they also sound like something a fighting man would be proud to pilot.
Wind Generator sounds like a giant fan, BTW.
Some ideas:
Animal names: the most used in present day.
Tool names: saw, hammer, jackhammer, etc sound good IMO.
Transports should be named for large things. Atlas is beautiful IMO. In real life, I think "Starlifter" is one of my favorites.
Ships are supposed to be "noble" units. IRL they are named after Knights, Queens, Presidents, etc. Crusader? That's a good name that sounds noble.

No way, the cutesy names (especially when limited to the earlier tier units) give a huge amount of character. It also makes getting real behemoths like the Goliath or the Juggernaut that much more epic.Mav wrote:Ok, for serious now:
