The battle list is currently a mess. The default columns and sizes are confusing, often clipping the relevant fields and wasting space with less relevant ones.
I've made suggestions on github on how to improve it and highlight the rooms when people use "promote".
Players need better ways to signal "eagerness" to start the game. The current chat-based system is poor, as it relies on people deliberately joining chat rooms other than the default ones, and doesn't disciminate fresh promotions from promotions made an hour ago or for games that already started.

I edited the picture on the above post and copy pasted into it my modified battlelist to show what could be a default view of battleroom/chat + battlelist.
This would allow people to be in a room but still be able aware of what's going on in other rooms, namely if there's people there eager to start a game.

SL would solve a lot of it's issues by simply breaking out the battle room into a separate window a la tasclient.

It's not just highlighting rooms status and integrating with "promote", this needs further development to highlight the different games being hosted.
I think the battle list entries should be grouped by game (in a way that lumps together different versions of the same game, showing the most populated games first), and then by players (most populated room first for each game). Maybe have each game row be like a window with its own scroll which shows at most 6 rooms per game so one game with lots of hosts can't take up too much visible space.
