hey melvin thats by far the best model ive seen from you yet; you're defenitely improving. i like the design, it makes visual sense to me (the balance between the legs and the body of the mech etc)
how about posting the model and the texture so we can have a look?
but honestly, a little AO bake magic and some normals and you're good to go.

Im sorry but i dont have the model here, but could you explain this "magic" and "normals"?
it's not finished yet but my new project has a team so maybe we will succeed in getting these into spring!

he meant that AO bake improves model a lot (tho, only in spring its needed tbh)
and normals turn regular 2d texture into something that looks like 3d (for example all these greyish little squares and rectangles will look like 3d mesh)

Karl do you use reference for your designs?
You always say "yeah this sucks, that sucks" but as a kind of "artist" its not good to show you "sucky works" if you think so.
Honestly, the barrels and chassis could use rework indeed, but you should see existing gun chassis and barrels and practice more in general shapes perhaps, the gun is kinda flat.

it looks like you've got an atlased texture there so AO bake probably won't work, but if you'd like to attach the model (in 3ds or obj format) and the texture, i can make you a normalmap and explain to you how i constructed it
also now that you've got colored areas instead of just straight grey, it looks even better
