mine generally take 1 hour to model, 1 hour to map, and 1 hour to texture.

this is just sort of what works for me, if im making many models, i try to save some time so that i can move along as fast as possible... if i take longer, i start to get antsy, and my work suffers accordingly.

certainly when i was beginning to model, it probably would have taken 3x as long, but as you learn, you figure out techniques and shortcuts.

just keep practicing, and modelling the way you want... theres certainly no golden rule about how complicated it should be or how long it should take; its really all up to you. dont be discouraged!

Fair enough, I shouldn't have told you cry me a river. Good models and textures take time. If you do not have the patience for it then perhaps it is not for you.

I would like to see your work if you consider me a noob. Please share some pictures of it.

Should have said, "cry me an ocean" instead.

Takes me days too, with S44 units. Not even including the days i spend looking at blueprints and photos from every angle to understand the geometry

those all together were several days, i just happened to finish them all on 1 day, and most are pretty low poly so its much faster.

18 hours, start to finish, including 8 hours sleeping and some time spent doing random 'stuff'.

Its a matter of practice.

I texture at 512X512. I have 2 models on a 1024 which are the gaw and whitebase... but both of those are terribly poorly done.

I use a mix of digital painting and working at the pixel level.

OMG I LOEV WHAT YOU ARE DOING! GODZILLA MOD! I SEX You!

well actually its not really a god zilla mod, but that is a bad ass idea. i wouldn't mind using my city stuff for a godzilla mod, it just not what i was planning on.

any ways here's some industry:

a rampage type mod would be a blast...

where both players destroy the city until everything is gone or a timer is reached. The player with the most destruction wins....

hmmmm

hey could I "borrow" these for that idea when you have your structures done?

yeah you can use them.
well, i might need to make some more city stuff to give it more variety for smashing, but that sounds pretty fun. maybe make some blocks harder than others. and give the global ai little tanks and planes that pretty much just slow you down as you are stomping away?

the barrels will split apart into 4 parts and reveal a another barrel underneath for a special attack. the walk script is going to look silly tho.

Cool! Maybe have them go 60 degrees, rather than 90?
