Sound Editor Wanted

Post by Argh »

Job Description:

Create, edit, and master new and existing sound effects for a major Spring mod to be released in the near future.

Must be fast, not need supervision, and know your stuff.

You will be remastering about 150 sound effects and creating about 50 to specifications from game designers. In short, if you are thinking you might want to do this for a living, this is your big chance. The first segment of this job will take less than a week (my estimate, based on my own experience doing this work), but you may be asked to perform additional assignments on the drop of a hat for the next two months, so be prepared to commit to that timeframe.

If you think you qualify, send me a link to your portfolio.

Try Fruityloops studio

With systrus you can make some laser effects and there are like 1000 of sounds. You can even edit them.

a long time ago I used a program called Goldwave but now I've found something called Wavepad that seems pretty sweet. it can do mp3s as well.

Argh's looking for someone who does this as a hobby to do it well and professionally. Argh has more then enough stuff on his plate to learn sound mastering and production as well.

Oh yeah, but you should add to the job description ->
includes:
-Runing around with a Micro searching for a certain Sound
-includes searching in Wavecurves for the godamed backgroundnoise
-includes collecting of strange sound making objects (like stones, old cassets, maschineparts)

And you should add that you don`t want people to make Music - that part drives of most of the Sound engineering folks...

Good Luck for the Search..

@Cabbage:

Send me a portfolio of sound FX work, if you want a go. There may be a little music involved, but not much. I am looking for somebody who can provide the mod with proper sounds to create a realistic mood.

Reason isn't really a good sample editor. It's very specialized to digital music production. Fruity loops at least has some tools for sample editing, although it's really not what I'd recommend for a sound artist wanting to create sound effects for a gaming project...

Whoever accepts the request for sound engineer will probably know better what to use, if it has at least some experience in sound engineering.

Still, i remomend the program Audacity, which i used to make the sounds for the game Lincity-ng

Free (in price and in freedom), simple, small, fast.

Well that all depends on how you use it doesn't it? I know it's specialised to make mostly electronica, hip hop and rnb and suchlike.. but I mean, I make rock with it. It's all down to whatever program you're mostly comfertable using I suppose.

Hey Argh, lots of those sounds have nasty sounding reverb bits that go on for ages, so will it be alright to get rid of them and just have the original sound?
I mean stuff like the lasers etc.

I could then add a bit of nice reverb instead. of course it wont sound quite like the film though.
