Model Competition 0001 - Small Fighter/gunship/bomber

This is just like Neddiedrow's texture competition for textures, but for *GASP* models.

Uhh...Rules:
-under 1000 polys
-untextured; post pictures of the wireframe (and/or phong shaded for clarity)

Same as the texture thread, this is an attempt to make GPL-compliant models for new and/or existing mods.

This competition ends Saturday September 23.

I'll post mine later...aka when I get around to doing one.

skinned ones would be more usefull?

Shush. Modelling contest. Not skinning contest...Besides, skins tend to be sort of mod-specific...

meh ... i wanna be creative must it really be small...?

Well...I'm thinking the sort of thing that would be used as a lvl 1 unit. It can still be creative...

Plus an L1 unit that unfolds massive wings/is really deep would be rather cool.

I'd enter the GINTA gunship if it wasn't 1126 triangles...

A side note: Vegastrike project has loads of stuff resembling aircraft that can be borrowed/used (most content is under free licenses). One problem - they use Ogre's mesh format. (Inspiration is human-readable, though :))

Its a figher that uses swarm missles (like the Raven in XTA) to shoot down bombers.

i start to like this contests - the only way to use a forum as paper bin for old work, and not getting banned by the Mods.

Hehee, I already had an idea for this a few mins ago.. Time to get workin' :P

Um, this contest is kind've useless if y'all aren't posting your meshes, so that we can give detailed critique ;)

by Peet
That's probably a good idea.

Ahem, no this aint- some of the Meshes - well, are kind of lost... i am shure they are still there, but well, they are in Scenes, and those Scenes - recopied into scenes, Meshed smothed... and i am to lazy to search for them...
Screens, nothing else .. i am shure the others also will have not enough time to search through the usual modell mess, everybody has.

Well...if the models are going to be used in new mods (which is sort of the point) a model file needs to be provided...

And if this is a contest, how am I supposed to judge entries, if I cannot see the actual mesh? Bullshots do not tell me if the mesh has serious problems, dozens of wasted faces, bad welding, or poorly-designed uvmapping.

....herk

If it's not mapped, it's kind've pointless. Models without a uvmap are totally useless for videogames.
