So.. the civilian buildings in MOSAIC are modular - and generated.
Means they are puzzled together by a algorithm from around 500 diffrent pieces. Spring can take it- as long as there are no deep hierarchys or too much moving pieces aka no matrix updates.

Now the first version i did was for "middle eastern" themed citys.
Next building and people version is going to be western -

i modeled some decoration for the building roofs today. A miniature japanese garden and a koi pond.

Not very killer roboty - but very nice to realize.

So, imagine you had this one building - that represents all buildings in the city. It worked quite well for the middle eastern version- and now it will have to work for a european city. (Mostly inspired by paris).

You need office skyscrapers buildings (inspired by london).
You need ghettos (inspired by the banlieu, rhurpott,etc.)
You need the ubiquos boring bauhaus concrete that gets everywhere.

And you need all this recombineable- a thousand pieces rearranged into a units matrice.
Do you hear that- that is zerver groaning at the abuse heaped on his work.
Dont pitty him- he can take it.
It already worked once.
No mercy.
Weekends on weekends poured into one unit.
Logos. Shops. Storefronts. Parking Lots.
Little Cars.

About a month ago we tried to revive older Anarchid's volumetric clouds widget and extend a little bit so clouds cast shadows:

Oh wow - that looks beautiful! This does a lot to the ingame atmosphere.

Actually both parts of the rendering (clouds, cloud casted shadows) are toggleable.

For example TA Prime went the route of disabling clouds and leaving only shadows on the terrain to mimic how Command and Conquer 3 had this.

Drone Tower assembled from Mosaic Components..

The future of military drones, looks like - a container harbour and automated factory, clicking standard components together.
This will be a nightmare if its ever gets real.

Yes, and they actually make sense- as in military equipment like sense. Fluid cannisters, which double as explosive grenades.

Trying to decorate some maps,
I learned two things along the way, Cinema4d has a free trial and uses the 'Ministry of Flat' UV unwrapper, which does a better job than anything ive ever seen. Also substance painter is fun, but a tad crash-happy.

That looks wonderful! Very excited to see things going in this direction.

Reminds me of Doo's experiments with what were iirc purely model-based maps too. They were cool.

Nice to see you putting it to good work! I hopefully will have something to show in the near future too...
