the poncho isn't always a mexican thing. In westerns cowboys have Native American and Mexican influences.

Don't feel bad if I don't use your hat smoth. I did say I wasn't even sure I was going to keep the hat. The model is already about 1800 tri's. Besides, it's supposed to look like a robot; I'm sooner looking for ways to tone down the cowboy-look at this stage. To me a concept is a starting point not a goal.
And, yes Picasso, when not taking aim, I though it nice if the hat was down. (but not the robot itself)
What a lot of talk because of one picture. I say that proofs my point random wip needs more pictures

I think most my BAR models are somewhere between 1000 and 2000 tri's.
The legs may change but also I think the art of a game can be considered a big selling point. Often it is what people see first, and not guaranteed from a usual camera angle, so it might pay to make it look good anyway.
That said, I think I'm kinda saying it's still WIP in various ways now already.

I get that, but what I am saying is that say the little cylinders on the legs, they could be 6 instead of 8 sided. that kinda of thing. A lot of the poly count on this guy are the 8 sided cylinders.
I know people around here try to say that you have to have x face count for it to look like a cylinder but that is horse poo.

Textured something during breakfast. It's a Triton.
(I don't mind comments of course, but be advised; this model, and even parts of the texture, are still WIP, by witch I mean I feel atm the model mostly lacks time put into it. )

You dare change this.. and i will re-make it the way it is, put out my own version of BAR when its released with this one beeing replaced and hunt every further dev-hell-looped version dow..

those two are really beautiful, firestorm. The Jammer looks especially awesome.
The only thing i don't like about the turtle... i mean Triton... is the flap part on the turret. Other than that, its really cool. the retracting "head"... genius :)

Tried to make the barrel and 'flap-doors' look a bit like a trident, but no luck.
I recognised the flap is probably not ideal. I tried keeping it down once but that didn't work out for reasons I can't remember. I've occasionally totally changed it around over quite a period of time. example of previous incarnation
I think this is the best solution for me, without feeling the need to start from scratch. Though I must say thanks for the appreciation

firestorm, why not make the base of the turret smaller under the plate? that way there is room for the turret rim? the barrel could always retract and extend as part of the animation.
