CORE Diplomat +1

Post by MR.D »

Starting on the VTOL heavy rocket artillery truck for CORE.

So far its 1086 triangles.

I wanted to keep a close resemblance of the OTA Diplomat, but freshen it up a bit, planning on keeping it fairly simple on the exterior, but I'm going to try and add in some details where I can.

The Rocket and Gantry are stowed in a bay area and the sealed door slides open on tracks when it preps to fire, this is the main difference between mine and the OTA model

The Rocket and Gantry are occupying alot of triangles at the moment, so I might tone that area down a bit and try to balance out the details over more parts of the model.

Yours looks a teensy bit wide. Maybe you could move the treads inside of the base like the Space Marine Rhino.

Perhaps you could save a few triangles by making the warhead of the missile the same diameter as the body? I know that's how most real-world missiles are designed. The only ones with wider payload sections are modular satellite boosters.

looks abit messy where that rocket thingo is..

Maby if you change the colour of the bottom of it and the missile launcher bit another colour it would stand out abit more..

Otherwise it looks awesome

Whatever the rocket would look like, you must put the rocket model inside the diplomat model to the side too, as a different model file.

Easily done in upspring once the whole thing is done.

It's looking a bit like something you'd see in a Soviet parade at the moment. Maybe make the mechanism look a bit more sci-fi? It could just be the missile design though, I guess...

That's ace, I like the body, looks like some kind of kick ass monitor lizard robot thing. Missile's nice too.

Will the missile actually be the projectile launched (or look like this way)? How will it reload?

It looks like the launcher will fold down and the housing will slide over on top of it, and a new missile will magically appear in there, much like the original.

Sorry but the Diplomat unfortunately didn't have that - just the Merl had that housing which closes and opens again with a new missile. I'd appreciate to have something like that for the Diplomat too though so this is definately something I'd go for to mask that respawning of the missile...

Well the RPG style payload makes more sense to me (even though looking like a love scepter), as this isn't much of a splash damage weapon, but rather a precision strike munition how it is balanced into BA and CA.

But as long as the new Rocket is visually pleasing, I'll stick with it :-)
