Solar Panel (Tech1?)

Post by PuG »

Had a couple of hours spare the other night and thought it would be an idea to come up with a possible replacement for the Arm or Core Tech1 solar panel (theirs an animation at the bottom of the post for it folding out).

It'd go fine as the reg solar in CA. Adv solars dont fold though- its in the job description.

This would serve best as the core solar

+1 for putting this in CA, it would look great on the opposite side of zenka's solar, I forget whether its arm or core.

Looks awesome, shouldn't replace anything in a mod that is sticking to be like TA. But i do love it.

My solar was a clone of the original arm solar (tech 1). only done right.
Then aGorm retextured it :) and MR.D cane up with a new design which pwned.
I ended up with porting all 3 to spring. they are for download ppl!

Yours is verry cool PuG. since it dploys so diffrent I vote for core replacement!

I seriouslty like the model done here... ALOT.

I love taking TA things, (armor folding) solars and re-working them...

that IS what Spring is all about. REMAKING TA but, better on EVERY ACCOUNT, and yes, that includes models and animations, and scripts too.

someone needs to come up with a Core model of a solar that opens up like the batmobile armor in batman returns :P

it looks nice, but it will hopelessly clash with every TA unit

Yeah, those were my feelings too, Hunter.

It's a fantastic design, really, but it just doesn't fit with the TA aesthetic, or the particular ethos of either of the sides. It's far too graceful and organic in form.

well thanks for the comments, feedback!

Snipawolf - Yes, textures need to be finished, somewhat lacking in detail - all that Spring needs now is normal maps, parallax or relief :).

SinbadEV - To be honest I don't really want to get involved in modding as such - if I release it then people can always use it as they see fit? - or send to specific mod on request.

Warlord Zsinj - I wouldn't say its organic in form :) a simple mechanical design to solve the solution of how to do you fold out four big dishes with out using lots of animations :)

Will try and upload a build in next couple of days.

Regards!

It's the old crappy TA 3dos that don't fit, not the other way around.

Not organic in itself, no, but the allusions strike me as more 'organic' in form, compared to say, the very angular and blocky Arm/Core solar generators.

This is perhaps due to the use of the circle as the primary shape, and the slightly unaligned nature of the circles when deployed looks a little like lillypads.

Nice work, tho you might want to add a little more shading to the base.
