Re: S:44 Dump
Everything produced by spiked, flozi or me is creative commons attribution noncommerical. So yeah..pretty much just take whatever you like and use it as long as there's some kind of credit given. I'll ask yuritch about his models next time I see him (or perhaps he'll post here).
Re: S:44 Dump
Of course, you may have to wait for release before you get your grubby mits on it

Unless you have an SVN version, in which case you cheat
Re: S:44 Dump
My models are free to use, just give a credit. Oh, and make a texture yourself since I don't UVMap or texture them - maybe at a later stage I will do textures, but now the results aren't worth the effort (in other words, I'm a very poor texturer).

Re: S:44 Dump
This just in:
A sneak-peak at Zpock's latest masterpiece, the airfield...

What's shown is impressive enough; however, there's far more to this airstrip than meet's the eye. You'll have to wait and see, though.

Re: S:44 Dump
The fact that the beloved swastika is not there?
Re: S:44 Dump
Yeah... that's like the german version of the Indy movies.
Re: S:44 Dump
I don't get why you can't have swastikas in their correct historical setting. Maybe we should censor all the video tapes from back then too, in case someone might be offended.
And the sickle hammer stands for the death of 10 times as many people and several countries suffering rape during decades yet it's totally OK, yeah go political correctness.

Re: S:44 Dump
There is still the possibility that that's the actual Wermacht flag...
(Swastika's the Nazi party flag only I think)

Almost.
Almost.
Re: S:44 Dump
The swastika wasn't just the NSDAP symbol, it (the red+white circle and swastika) was the national flag of germany 1935-1945.
Re: S:44 Dump
Current in-game German flag looks more like a Kriegsmarine flag to me, not like Wermacht.
Warning: links contain swastikas. Don't click on them if you cannot stand seeing those.
Kriegsmarine Ensign:
Here it is
Wermacht symbol:
Flag of the Third Reich (i.e. the state flag of Nazi Germany):

Actually, what we have now is a cross between Kriegsmarine and Wermacht flags.

Re: S:44 Dump
First, we chose the Kriegsmarine flag because the regular Party and State flag are just sooooo fucking boring.
Second, there are two main reasons why that flag doesn't have a swastika on it.
First, we don't want it to. Even if we're to assume that those behind the Hammer and Sickle killed "10 times more" than those behind the Swastika, nobody that any sane person attributes to the Hammer & Sickle attempted to wipe a race of human beings off of the face of the planet and pursued a barbaric reign of racist terror across much of the civilized world, the effects of which is still felt by millions of people. I could probably go on a tyrade about certain myths about communism but I don't feel like it right now.
Secondly, and most importantly, images of the swastika are illegal in many countries around the world, including Germany, rattle. Infact, here is the exerpt from the criminal code of Germany:

But if it means a lot to you, I know a way I can go around this law.§ 86 StGB Dissemination of Means of Propaganda of Unconstitutional Organizations
(1) Whoever domestically disseminates or produces, stocks, imports or exports or makes publicly accessible through data storage media for dissemination domestically or abroad, means of propaganda:
1. of a party which has been declared to be unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court or a party or organization, as to which it has been determined, no longer subject to appeal, that it is a substitute organization of such a party; [├óÔé¼┬ª]
4. means of propaganda, the contents of which are intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization, shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine. [├óÔé¼┬ª]
(3) Subsection (1) shall not be applicable if the means of propaganda or the act serves to further civil enlightenment, to avert unconstitutional aims, to promote art or science, research or teaching, reporting about current historical events or similar purposes. [├óÔé¼┬ª]
§ 86a StGB Use of Symbols of Unconstitutional Organizations
(1) Whoever:
1. domestically distributes or publicly uses, in a meeting or in writings (§ 11 subsection (3)) disseminated by him, symbols of one of the parties or organizations indicated in § 86 subsection (1), nos. 1, 2 and 4; or
2. produces, stocks, imports or exports objects which depict or contain such symbols for distribution or use domestically or abroad, in the manner indicated in number 1,
shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.
(2) Symbols, within the meaning of subsection (1), shall be, in particular, flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans and forms of greeting. Symbols which are so similar as to be mistaken for those named in sentence 1 shall be deemed to be equivalent thereto. [├óÔé¼┬ª]
Re: S:44 Dump
Which is a "law" that's ****ing backwards, especially when used against historical depictions (going that route, maybe we should change the history itself too?) or perhaps even more funny, against people protesting against nazism using for example crossed over swastikas.
