spads subforum?

Post by Forboding Angel »

Bibim, why don't you simply allow them to make a spads subforum? This thread is a really bad way to house discussion. And I had no idea that spads had a bug reporter.

+1 for spads subforum.

A lot of the problems I've had have actually been unrelated to bugs in spads, instead they relate more to the general way or working with linux or with networking. I'm sure someone else than bibim could have been able to help me too easily.

I am now aware of the bugreporting site and will use it in the future.

Tbh I'm not convinced about the utility of a SPADS subforum given how few messages it would contain.
But I'm not specially opposed to it...

This thread has 30 pages. That's not few posts.

This.

Also, if it has only a few posts... who cares? I mean really? It's not like adding a subforum is more than 2 clicks for an admin (Flozi, I summon you!). It's not a drain on the database, and it puts things in a nice neat place where we can easily find information.

People hate reading. Reading long subforumlists is going to result in anger.

It (subforums for client, server & autohost software) was vetoed when the last round of rearrangements was going on, I'll discuss it with the appropriate people again.

Vetoed? I thought we were an anarcho-syndicalist commune. Who has veto power?

But it already exists?

Lobby Clients & Server
Discuss development of lobby clients, server, autohosts and auto-download software.

I meant per project subforums e.g. "SPADS", "TASClient", "SpringLobby" etc

Or alternatively split "Lobby Clients & Server" into separate Clients, Server, Autohosts.

But yeah basically this thread should just be in that forum.

We need more infrastructure, so that people will go there, so people will get decently organized.

If enough effect is given, a cause will appear

It might be useful after all, especially now that the plugin API starts to be used a bit. I guess some answers in this thread could be useful to other people but aren't easy to find as it is now...

I can split self-contained discussions from here into their own thread, just let me know.

Thank you, I'm not sure it would be very practicable to list all the things I would split to you though. If there was a dedicated forum I guess I would first split all self-contained discussions from this thread which are just questions, problems, bug reports... (giving them appropriate titles), and keep the original thread as an announcement / comment thread only. I don't know...
