.:New Map:. Parched Mesa (updated)
Lots of wreckage. mmmm wreckage. an easter egg too
Designed for 3vs 3 or 4 vs 4. Enjoy (tried to get some half ass decent screens with this one too, only problem was that it dropped my fps to 3 fps).
THis will be my last desert map for awhile as well. Snow maps are coming :D
Version 2 is out. Fixed texture issue and start points.

1, wrecks: I don't have control over that. And honestly, who cares?NOiZE wrote:Texture looks nice
wind setting is good
Now my complaining:
- Wrecks all have the same orientation
- Some starting points are not near metal ( even the #1 start point )
And can you make a wreckless version?
2, Starts: Fixed
3, Wreckless: No. For those of you that pay attention, there is only 6 metal patches per person, giving 2 per patch. This means that with 6 patches you make a steady 13 metal (comm+1).
What this means is that if you don't conserve the metal you ger from wreckage, you will be SOL quickly.
You could make another 3do,tdf with other orrientationsForboding Angel wrote:1, wrecks: I don't have control over that. And honestly, who cares?
ThanksForboding Angel wrote:2, Starts: Fixed
Wind farming FTW, there is plenty of space for that.Forboding Angel wrote:3, Wreckless: No. For those of you that pay attention, there is only 6 metal patches per person, giving 2 per patch. This means that with 6 patches you make a steady 13 metal (comm+1).

Hmm
Haven't tried it so I can't speak of the gameplay yet, but aesthetically it's too smooth. It looks like somebody took a parched mesa, and then melted it. Then again, I don't know how possible the hard edges needed for a proper mesa map are in Spring. At the very least rockier textures would be nice though.
Comments on your future assignments.
I think the desert color theme fits spring quite well. As well as grass.
Snow, on the other hand, is annoying for the eyes since it's so bright and units don't look that good on it for some reason.
It's also unrealistic, since snow is usually extremely soft and tanks and kbots would sink in it. You would need a snowmobile or a wide-track vehicle.
Except in glaciers.
This would be interesting, a huge glacier between mountains or something, with deep cracks and all. Ending in a lake or something. Call it global warming. Exposed ground provides metal, but is vulnerable since it's low.

ok after thinking about it quite a bit... I ahve decided to remove the features and spread out more metal patches. I suppose I will wait for this type of concept until we have the ability to rotate features.
Expect a new version tonight. (Noize should be a little happier anyway ).
BTW a question for the future... As you all know I love having visable metal patches, I also like having the auto show metal map on as well (because I like to que up a bunch of mexes at one time when I play). My question is this, do you guys prefer autoshow on or off when there are visable patches?
BTW everyone thanks for your previous input.

- We can rotate features already, it's just annoying and boring work.Forboding Angel wrote:ok after thinking about it quite a bit... I ahve decided to remove the features and spread out more metal patches. I suppose I will wait for this type of concept until we have the ability to rotate features.

- But looking forward to the featureless version, indeed it will make me happy.
- i don't mind autoshow metal or not.
Once more ot about snow maps:
I now tried glacier pass.... well I still think it's very hard on the eyes and slightly unrealistic. Sorry, but I have to say that.
With glaciers I meant something like this:
