I think the word for this is "beautiful". I'm not sure I've seen a map more aesthetically pleasing (to my eyes at least).

Excellent looks. However, your DNTS configuration is very strange to me. Do you mind if I take a shot at it?

It's very pretty - I would like to know where you'd put the startboxes?

I tried to match the screenshot. Better/worse?

Masterful use of specular on your side :)

I love how the trails look on the frozen lake, but I'm less keen on them with the normal snow. It needs some texture for the normal snow, but imo better with something a bit less clearly delineated.

I like the red bit a lot, the trails snaking across the ice are prefect.

On the green bit, I think the mesh of lines is an unnatural pattern for snow to have -- for snow it should be less sharply divided into shiny/non-shiny parts, and the shininess should be where the lighting would make the snow warmest.

P.S. If you want the tmd for viewtopic.php?f=81&t=36787, pm me.

The yak can you fix the mex spots? We have to press f4 to see it , can you remake so players can see the actual spot? But overall map is stronk, thanks.

Beherith, I like your detailing better, though I was going for dirty blue cracked ice over actual snowcover. It may not match my original vision but it resolves much better up close.

What do you mean? I have tested briefly with BA and can see the mex spots without f4.

Imagine, a merciless glacier- shoving against equally mercyless rock- imagine the ice shoving up, before this rock- like a branding wave, frozzen in time for all eternety

Image

Wouldnt that make for a nice feature- if only used sparingly?

Anyhow, this is how far I got with the changes, as i feel it is better to share results than to let them bitrot on my hdd.
(tweaked splats and lighting, more tweaks since last screenshot)

It certainly is, thanks for sharing. I would recommend that snow DNTS texture you used to anyone else making a winter map.
