Same like original Mars map, except that it works with current spring version.

Hmm, anyone remember who made this one? Because it has some issues that can easily be changed (early fogstart, wonky metalmap, wierd lighting, old texture)

Erm - seeing that it was included from first Spring release onwards, I would have thought on of the Swedish Yankspankers - I'd tend to think SJ. Don't really have a clue though...

Cool. This was the first map I ever played, so as far as I'm concerned, this map is Spring. I had hacked a working version a few months back, but somehow lost all copies when I was moving files around. (Along with all copies of a halfway working Lua skirmish AI, but let's not talk about that.)

I wouldnt think those are issues in that they need fixing (though im not sure what you mean by early fogstart). The map in this form is perfectly playable, even if the specs might look dated thats how it is, it might be dated in some respects but that has its own appeal and feel too. Better to put mapping efforts towards new maps instead of messing with old liked concepts imo.Beherith wrote:Hmm, anyone remember who made this one? Early fogstart is when the fog starts very close to the camera, thereby hindering visibility and making everything look washed out.

What's wrong with "Spring style" (ie non-patch) metal? You like being able to target metal extractors without having LOS or radar coverage ?

I dont like having to mess around trying to find a flat piece of ground that gives reasonalble coverage of each patch, it is time consuming and unintuitive. ta metal spots means you can plop down mex's with minimal fuss and resume microing

Speaking of which, wasn't there a really good Red Planet map complete with those weird neuron-plants that also doesn't work with current Spring? That'd be nice to see a fix ver.

Just FYI, this map stopped working for me with SpringLobby some time back. It would no longer show up in the list of maps. I got it to work again by deleting the file mapinfo.lua from Mars_V1.sd7 using 7zip.
