@Valence

thx, glad you like it.

The best looking map so far for ES shoudl be Cosmos, but its a very large map. I, for my self, prefer to play on smaller maps like MoonQx or NightskyOpera. The first mainly because of the interestng gamplay due to only two geospots. The later for its cool looks.

The KernelPanic maps are also quiet fun to play.a

I've so far been unable to download an uncorrupted copy of jobjol (the site also has no mirrors available for the 0.52 file) Is there anywhere else to download it from?

Nope, still doesn't work :(
EDIT: I unzipped the file with WinRar, it reported no errors. Just for some reason spring's archive mover refuses to touch it, saying it's corrupt or something.
EDIT2: after moving it manually into the mods folder, it worked fine :D

oh, sorry about that. the archive mover is still not working with ES. I will make that clearer in the download description on jobjol.

update to 0.532

-Works now with the current version of Spring.

-Removed Mines, because they no longer work the way they did with spring 0.7x and i have no clue how to make them work again.

-Observer are no longer stationary. They can now be used as slow invisible scouts.

Oh neat, I was looking through this thread thinking it was going to end with some post saying "why does it not work anymore?". But instead i get "it's up to date". Very excited, will check it out.

update to 0.533

-fixed an issue with the starting storage

--------------

I will try to keep ES working with each currently in force Spring version. But it is unlikely that i will add new content to the game any time soon.

If anyone finds a bug or balance issues, please feel free to mention them here.

@Wombat: i have never left, honestly. And for the lack of advertisement, i never was really confident that ES would have a chance of being popular, due to its game-play and not being polished enough. People who search for something different on Springfiles or here at the forums will find it anyhow, and those are the people most likely to give it a chance or even like it.

@smoth: I will release it under a open license, as soon as i figure out which one to choose. So maybe somebody else will continue work on it. I┬┤m invested in another project at the time being. Maybe i will return to it at some point, but not in the next years(s).

GPL or Artistic Liscence 2.0 for content is good. What sort of provisions and restrictions, if any, do you want to put in your licence?

Suggestion: release art content under CC:non-comercial, and code under gpl.

after playing all three homeworld games once again I felt the urge to model some ( two) spaceships. Don┬┤t know if they will be a new start on the effort of creating the third side for ES, but i feel like posting them anyway and get some opinions on the overall style. The first one is intended to be a fighter-class counter, the second the same as the classic homeworld ion frigate.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also released a new version of ES, which only changes the licensing for the included art to CC BY-NC 2.0 ( as suggested by bob and Saktoth). So if there is still someone out there who wants to reuse or modify this stuff, feel free to do so.

If the game gets modified and uploaded, please make sure that the name differentiates it not only by the version number from the official branch.
For example:
bad = Eternal Struggle 0.6XX - ES0.6XX.sdz
good = Eternal Struggle mynick edition 0.1 - ESMNE0.1.sdz

While it would be nice to be credited, its not necessary.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

and now the screens:
