Zoombie: Sorry to not have been more clear, you need to open the mod file with a unzip program (7zip is nice) and then go into the "unitpics" folder. And there you have your hundreds of buildpics :). Unfortunately the Spring wiki won´t let you upload .pcx files, so you´d have to convert them to .jpg or .png first (I don´t have a program to do that at the moment).

I also wanted to note that I admire smoth and Fanger and the rest of the E and E team, first for making such a very playable and fun mod, but even more for the grace they are showing at the moment as they are being confronted with walls of critisism (a lot of which is not constructive). I would kindly (or should that be not so kindly...) request all the people voiceing negative opinions on this mod to
a) as already has been stated, realize that what you are saying is your opinion and not fact, so don´t forget to state this yourself.
b) If you think you know it best, then put your hand where your mouth is, and actually do some of the things you think would be sensible, so you can show what you mean here.

Sounds like a great idea to me on the unit distinction front.smoth wrote:I posted a list of suggestions in the unit differentiation thread, I still think that red tanks on flamer mechs and some kind of plasma canisters on the plasma bots backs would help.

I think the latest buildpics are a huge improvement from 0.171 btw.
I dont ever remember anybody saying the buildpics look are bad, as in ugly.At this point people say "wait, I suddenly think they look bad."
The problem has always been that it was too hard to tell which unit is what picture and that did not really change in the evolution of the pictures.
Somewhen last year I posted this picture:
I remember someone said he liked it but it was probally too ugly.
Personally, I have no problem with buildpictures that are no real screenshots but some icon-like drawing. Also notice, how you can recognize the units, even on the smaller thumbnail!
Another idea, the picture does not have to show the whole unit.
If the chasis for all level 1 is the same, there is no reason to show it.
A zoom on the weapon/important part is enough.
I guess other people had these ideas before, why were they dropped?

This time try varying them in such a way like, maybe for the rocket tower the rocket pods arent sitting ontop of the tower but instead are attatched to the side of the tower 2/3's the way up, or the sam has a turn table at the top with pods facing straight up (whereas atm they face ahead like the rocket pods making it harder to tell apart).

Well guess what...five Taigas, when concentrating fire on anything, WILL own it because lasers are like BEOOOOOW!
PS: I can't seem to think of Khrushchevs as just ├óÔé¼┼ôMedium Battle Tanks├óÔé¼┬Ø any more. Stupid Wiki...making my brain hurt.

It seems the mark II URC combat units were causing confusion amongst field commanders.
