The Website: jKs Site Changes

Post by AF »

As mentioned here this is one of the threads discussing what is to be done.

My recommendation is that jKs changes be deployed. I have suggestions on improvements that can be made to them, but I feel those can be made later, and what he has produced is better than what we already have.

jK first announced these changes here:

http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.ph ... 41#p556741

This is what they look like:

What is the consensus? Do people want this change? What changes do people wish?

From screenshot does not look like such big changes to me: A bit more red here, a bit more 3D looking frame-things there.
"Something" that makes site adjust better to resulution.

So yes, why not...

i'm against applying these changes yet. we have to first clarify responsibilities. this is to much anarchy atm.

If you want responsibilities, then sure, I put myself forward. Someone can create a poll, anybody else who would like the role of maintainer can put themselves forwards, we'll decide based on community consensus.

In the meantime, I see nobody who opposes deployment of these changes, lets give it a little more time, perhaps another day or two. If by then there is no dissent, we move forward to deploy. Do people think that's fair?

we have no one who cordinates website/server changes. i'm not sure if a backup at all exists.

maybe just some rule like: post big changes into "infrastructure development" forum is enough. imo an announce is needed at least or a person who cordinates it.

I think I can answer with what most users opinion is: we don't care who does what etc...

The new website doesn't look very different, why not use it? As long as we still can find our way around it, it's no problem to have a little change. So just go ahead...

this question wasn't directed to users, this question was directed to people who are willing to do stuff (=devs).

So, should we report what we see 'wrong' on http://test.springrts.com/?

For a start the header looks a bit wrong - notice the 2 shades of colors where the arrow is pointing .Guess there is something that is not scaled and looks "strange". The place where it appears depends on the window size.

can we please at least go back to the old font? I really really really don't like the serifs.

your browser seems to fail for some reason. its still non-serif, jk afaik works on a workaround for this.

edit: hack is applied.

@SinbadEV:

does it still work for you? removed the hack but added more fallback fonts as the hack caused firefox to always download the fonts (about 1MB) the first time the page was loaded. .

The problem I mentioned (with the header background/image) seems to still be there. My resolution on horizontal is 1920.
