Slapped together these pics to show where I'm headed with coloration for each faction.

Inner Sphere and Clan faction possible colors
Re: Texture Color Schemes
So wait, you're not doing teamcoloured units? What's your plan for team indicators? Platters?

Re: Texture Color Schemes
Most units will have teamcolour gibbins and bits, some more than others, but yes platters will be the primary way of seeing whose units are whose.

Re: Texture Color Schemes
Here are some renders for Team colouration. Note the texture for the Catapult isn't done, but sufficient to show the idea behind side colours.
There's a couple possibilities for each faction and I'm trying to settle on one as the "default" scheme.
Federated Suns
A basic Olive drab colour.
An olive-hued camo pattern.
A tan colour reminiscent of modern US military in pop culture, which is a theme I'd wanted to go before given Federated Suns theme of being standard generic American-style military.
Lyran Alliance
A solid blue with asymetric white half-torso.
A dull blue "Marine" digital pattern, which I quite like.
A much more vibrant blue hue on the camo pattern which Flozi likes.
Draconis Combine
A typical and completely impractical Draconis solid red.
A slightly less bright red.
A much more subtle red-hued camo pattern.
Free Worlds League
Ridiculous typical Marik purple colour.
Similar vein to Lyrans', take a ridiculously impractical colour and turn it into a digital camo pattern.
Much more subdued but still slightly purply.
Capellan Confederation
A typical brighter emerald green solid colour.
A splotch camo pattern in bright greens, reminds me a lot of China, whom Capellans are supposed to be mostly based on.
Green digital.
This was an accident made while making the above pattern, and I actually kinda like it.
Here they all are in a single image file for easier viewing:
So there are a bunch of options, but I'm looking for a "Default" for each faction. Something that suits them. If we use a paint-changing mechanic I expect all of these patterns to be available.

Re: Texture Color Schemes
Alright, I've settled on 5 colour schcmes, one for each of the Inner Sphere factions, that are all relatively unique and easy to recognize.

Re: Texture Color Schemes
could you have it so the factions have specific color but the team color controls the secondary color; so the variation that you have in those sets of 3 would be controlled via the players choice while the other 90% of the color is faction based?
Re: Texture Color Schemes
Very cool, im glad you caught up on the textures, those made the game feel bland.
