Kaiser's Lego v2, massive update!

Post by Forboding Angel »

Ok, I have my doubts that this will matter to a lot of you, but it IS really cool nonetheless.

I have finished one of my longstanding projects to "retexture" legos. Now before you get excited, understand that this isn't a full retexture. It's more about getting legos in a place that they are easily manipulated. In this case, I am using blending options on layers for the base, with the details and greebles on top. The end result has been a much sharper, less confusing texture.

Additionally, it should make it SIGNIFICANTLY easier for any of you to do your own lego skins. Here are is a shot of the new skin:

Here is a shot of it without any greebles and only edge details enabled (The light blue lines are my Photoshop guides, forgot to turn them off):

Each panel is separated out and layered according to to the folds in the model pieces (When you see it in action this will make sense.
Each panel is 115 layers.
Each panel has an overlaid layer which contains all the detail. If you want to, it is possible to remove all the greebles and details and simply have shaded boxes.

This makes manipulating the underlying texture incredibly easy. It should also make it simple for you to make your own greebles and texture details on your own if you want.

Additionally, you will not be want for models, as in this file, there is not only all of the lego parts, but almost every single unit in Evolution RTS:

So here are examples of how they look ingame:
