Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
Yop !
x5 timelapse video of how I textured my research center, so it's not really a tutorial even if I'm explaining what I'm doing and if I'm giving some advices.
The video is 17 min length, it's a bit long but I couldn't speed more :
It's already a bit fast to understand what's going on ^^

PS : some texts may appears too shortly, but I guess it's ok. Sry :)

I love you for this
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
i like how u treat edges, didnt expect it to be so easy, good stuff :D
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
Very very awesome, and thank you for posting it!
Could you perhaps tell us how much you accelerated this video, and what program you used to paint (is that CS5?)

Great work Cremuss
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
I like your units, but they really need some dirt. Just a little bit, take a brush, low opacity white/black. That will make it look more like metal, but it will also be clean.

He just makes it look easy. It's not.Wombat wrote:i like how u treat edges, didnt expect it to be so easy, good stuff :D
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
Thanks everyone
Beherith > speed is x5 so it took me about 1h20 to make the texture.
Gimp & Blender for the win
Hoi > True but I can't really spend too much time on a single unit since I don't have the free time I would for this project ^^
anyway I'm glad you liked the how to !
let's do some units now

Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
perhaps theres a way... caffiene via intravenus... to speed up your texturing x5 IRL... then you'd have all the extra time you need, right?
probably need some morphine though to tone down the shakes in your hands though
of course the other option is to clone you, but then the clones would have to mature to the point where they can be chained into the texturing interface. not to mention that they will eventually find out what's going on and escape from the chinese moonbase. the best option seems then to be to enhance your performance via chemical injection

Not if the clonse are digital entities living in a digital world at a digital computer!
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
scifi > for spring ofc. I played supcom, like the first 3 games of the campaing of the terran (?) and I hated the game. I needed to speed the game like 10 times faster to have something dynamic and reactive, and the differences between the 3 avaible factions are so ridiculous, like it seems you play the 3 same faction but with a different design. Anyway, yeah, spring owns :)

Wire up clones in parallel!KaiserJ wrote:perhaps theres a way...
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to you, this is wonderful. I hope the best for your game. :D
Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
small question according edges, you use brush with smooth of hard edges ?

Re: Time-lapse video tutorial of texturing a rts unit
so yeah, that's amazing. what tools in GIMP do you use? (e.g. gradient-ish to make those tubes and just about everything else) and what do you do with layers? so far i'm only using one for AO and another for drawing, how would i be able to use them more effectively?
