Spring Features - Resource for mappers

Re: Spring Features - Resource for mappers
if you use the springfeatures.sdz only for your own game/maps you could whatever you want but if you want others to create maps with that file as depedency, i would recommend not doing too many versions of it.
otherwise it will be annoying for mapmakers if they used an outdated dependency that no players has?

Re: Spring Features - Resource for mappers
i said nothing about file size being a problem.
problem is
1) will players know what a featurepack is/where to get it?
2) filename is just springfeatures.sd7 - no version number

Knorke... The lobbies already grab the dependencies for the players.

Correction. SL and ZL do. Dunno about tasclient.
Re: Spring Features - Resource for mappers
Is there any way a version dependency could be like version 2 and up?
Because this feature pack can be done so that it doesn't ever lose features, just has more added to it.

Why would it ever lose features? O_o
Re: Spring Features - Resource for mappers
@Behe
it would conflicts with how checksums works, and as was discussed, makes no sense in practice anyway. it would probably make more sense to have it on rapid, if it was updated on a (very) high frequency.
@forb
if one would update/replace old features, then the old ones woudl be removed.

O_o
Ok I see what you're saying. Well since I am apparently the self appointed maintainer of this thingy, I guess when updates to existing features happen, I'll just add them as a new feature instead of overwriting the old ones, that's easy enough.
And yes, having it on rapid would be awesome. But because not all lobbies integrate rapid (I.E. SL and Tasclient), it isn't really a feasible option.
However, I don't see it being updated rapidly enough to warrant that. Now, after kaisers new map comes out I will be adding the features to the pack.

quick q... how does this handle the tdfs? there will be ones included in the pack, and then if i want to change something, i can add a new one to the map archive itself to override?
