The tool's fine for now, but...

Inverse mouse (resp. Y) for the camera movement is weird. I think many would like to have an option for that, whether the mouse is inverse or not. I'd prefer the latter.

The option is currently not exposed in the interface,
but look inside: config/settings.cfg:
and change this to:
invertY false

hf,
Frostregen

EDIT: actually it is: just press "B"

Can you please make the camera system more controllable? The current camera is very cumbersome.

SpringMapEdit b0rked my texture map, which I painted with it, when I exported it as a seperate .bmp file. Exporting the whole SM2 map seems fine.

Thx, especially from you this means alot :)
Your editor was my inspiration.
It is really good, but --due to SM3 still being buggy-- it has barely no use.

hi frost! still loving SME.

a possible request... i've been working on an industrial map; its tough to get the 8 bit heightmap the way i want; even with a lot of palette manipulation beforehand, some surfaces are still bumpy and borked.

would it be possible to add tolerance settings to the "smooth whole map" option? i'd like to be able to smooth most of my map, but leave alone angles that are within 10 or 15 degrees of vertical 90... this would make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Could you please point me to a post or something that says step by step instructions to get 64-bit vista to work? Or a seperate version inside for vista users, im so confused.

@KaiserJ:
8-bit? it can actually be 16bit. (But you would need an image Program which can work with 16bit (raw) grayscale images...)

The thresholded smooth is a good idea, will come when interface "upgrade" is done. I plan to give every paint-tool its own dedicated set of GUI controls, instead of the same for every tool as it is now.
For now, listen to Behe. ;)

@Noruas:

HTH
(win7 64/ vista64 should be no difference regarding SME)

-Frostregen

Edit: got some time today(but still the old controls):

UPDATE: New Version 844
-Terrain Smooth: smoothing now limited by smooth strength:
The configured strength is the upper limit on height difference between two heightmap points for them beeing smoothed.
1000 beeing from bottom to top. 1 beeing 1/1000 bottom-to-top.

-terracing is configurable now via smooth strength:
The set strength directly translates into wanted transitions. 1 being 2 levels, 2 being 3 levels ....
