HOW do I add new maps to NOTA?????

Post by immex5 »

I do not understand. All the maps on springfiles.com are sd7 maps. I added them to documents/my games/spring/maps and that did nothing. I added them to documents/my games/spring/nota/gamelobby/maps and that does nothing AND it deletes all sd7 files and only keeps c1 files. How do i convert these to c1?

P.S.

Someone REALLY needs to update the wiki cause it says to use the tools/reload maps option and that is incredibly outdated info.

thanks in advance.

NOTA has to be played via their launcher/lobby. I know they have a very specific map pool.

The wiki is not out of date. If you use Springs official client, Springlobby, the info on the wiki is correct.

I guess NOTA devs have told you about viewtopic.php?f=55&t=34014#p573845 at some point, which is presumably the cause of your confusion.

I think i was talking with you immex5 once you were online - seems few hours after you wrote this.

To clarify it, notalobby client is using own distribution system which is not accepting all maps done by spring community, only the chosen ones. There are many reasons why we do that and thats why lobby ignores maps which are not whitelisted.

Btw, here is the full list of supported maps: https://trello.com/c/FGjbsQbz/
Also we already work on a shortcut for players to expose maps which are available for download (it was possible to download them via EXTRA packages downloader, now there will be special order-list to download individual maps based on players preference): https://trello.com/c/cZrmH5WI/

We apologize for the confusion and we hope the next version of the client will provide you better user experience.

I did try playing a non-whitelisted map in the spring lobby and experienced pretty massive de-sync. Is this a result of the map not being compatible? I LOVE nota. It's my favorite game mode. I like the unit scaling and especially the new naval unit models! but I wish there were much larger maps. Most notably these three maps are my favorite:

http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-ma ... dmearthv12

http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-ma ... ddworldv12

http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-maps/world

Just wish there was a way to play on these maps with nota.

Hi immex5

I listed all FAQ related to map options in to special card, especially main arguments why some maps are not supported: https://trello.com/c/P51rVVK1/

To maps you mentioned:

We also experienced some desynces or problems in general with mearth and ddworld and it was happening not just for nota, but also for other games we tested. Sadly we have no stable repro for that problem.

For maps you mentioned we have also additional filtering reasons (referencing the rules https://trello.com/c/P51rVVK1/)
The reasons are: A1, B3, B4, B6
The reasons are: A1, B4, B6
The reasons are: B5, B6

Sorry for delay before my response, I was not on the internet last two weeks.

I repeat there is always possible to play any game with any map in current notalobby if you use the developer skirmish mode and if the game/map is unpacked there (.sdd folders). How? That's part of the manuals below:
