Which wav formats are supported?
I've recently set up sound editing on a new computer but all my sounds appear in spring as short blips, they work in VLC. Apparently spring does not support all wav formats and my Audacity install has defaulted to a non-supported format. So does anyone know which formats are supported so I can export my sounds correctly?

16 bit unsigned mono should work just fine. Spring will break if you try to feed it stereo.

Incorrect, stereo sounds work fine. Just not as 3d positional sounds.

No, stereo sounds cause spring to shit itself and crash randomly. Talk to hoijui about it. We had a very animated conversation about the whole thing when he changed the support for stereo wav sounds.
Edit: NM I see what you were saying, yes that is correct, but a lot of other undesirable things happen with stereo sounds as well (like the fact that some of them will cause people to crash).
