I think it is safe to say he did it the classic way... futzed with objects in front of the microphone. I need to start pummeling fruit again, I think I know how to make the full array of headshot sounds 1944 needs.

Presenting the Imperial Aerial Support Platform

This platform allows the Imperials to repair their damaged aircraft in the field. Aircraft land on the pad, and construction arms deploy to make ad-hoc repairs to their craft. These repairs are far cheaper and more efficient then building new craft, and also allow players to look after their skilled pilots (who perform better in combat).

The air support platform is not toothless; it can deploy two hidden automated missile defence systems to discourage enemy aircraft from trying to shoot down pilots while they are being repaired. These anti air weapons are no substitute for actual AA defence, or a protective wing of aircraft, but offer some protection to friendly aircraft while they are being repaired. It's weapons cannot fire at ground targets, and so it relies entirely on other units to protect itself from ground assault.

Importantly the support platform is a flag upgrade. You cannot build this structure with a normal construction unit, you can only access it via upgrading a captured strategic point. As such, it slightly increases your Requisition Points earnt from that position.

I don't want you guys to be upset when this great looking game is released and nobody plays it.

RIP Gundam
RIP PURE
RIP IW

They're great games but if you want any mass orgy over them, you have to attack BA.

Why attack BA? Its fanbase is considerably smaller than the SW fanbase.

I mean, it's great if existing spring players want to play, no one minds that, but when we actually do release on December 22, 2012 we're not going to depend on Spring's existing player base for our own.

And if it fails, whatever, we had fun for a few years and our paycheck doesn't depend on IW

Not really, no. I believe saktoth has a pretty average PC and he had no issues playing IW competitively.

SW:IW/CA/1944/Gundam do require considerably better computers than BA, it is true. However, really, you shouldn't be playing on a Sempron or Pentium 4 with integrated at this point anyway. So yes, a pretty average PC... but you won't be able to go classic and play well.

actually, I found IW runs faster than almost any other mod. certainly much much faster than s44, which plenty of people can play without issue

PURE failed because despite the graphics the gameplay was wank

Gundam failed because despite the cool graphics and gameplay, it was marketing a universe that appeals to a very limited audience

s44 and ca are here to stay because their gameplay, graphics and concepts rock.

Please, please, please just call them games. People don't respond very well to "mod" outside of our little corner of the hobbyist world, and it isn't accurate.

I do agree on most of what you've said, though, but compared to BA sans Lups it still regularly clocks more in terms of resources. It is a very fast game, though - Gundam and KP are faster early but KP has so many units mid-late game that it hits a performance barrier.

Actually, though, Gundam's audience isn't very small, but I've only done a little advertising and Smoth is busy.
