pr-downloader swiw:test

(or use springlobby and join the autohost "Tibanna" to auto download it)

download a map, create a game, add the AI "C.R.A.I.G" and then play...

sorry usability sucks!

First time I hear of that. It can extract an sdd from existing rapid packages, but that wont be automatically updated.

I don't think it can - and I think it's better that way, because if you are using an sdd then you are probably busy changing/testing stuff, mostly without committing.

It can and I don't agree. I cannot stand not having access to the source of a project when I see a bug and then have to go hunt down the damn svn

This. One of the several reasons that Rapid was far superior to pr-downloader, but with a little updating pr-downloader could be just as good.

The biggest issue with pr downloader is that it's inconsistent as hell. Rapid was always 100% solid as a rock and never screwed up. Pr Downloader is a rolling snarl of issues, and that's extremely frustrating when you are trying to rely on it heavily.

Imo merge pr-downloader into spring.exe and combine functionality in a meaningful way.
Supporting multiple engine versions is a bit of an issue though I think.
How is this currently solved in a reasonable way? Do most lobbies update spring+pr-downloader and then use the new pr-downloader to do future downloads and stuff? If so, it shouldn't be so hard to integrate it, seeing as spring already comes bundled with pr-downloader.

I think so, yes. When Spring is in its "normal install" state with one common datadir shared between several spring installs, I think pr-downloader integration into the engine works smoothly. I am not sure are portable installs e.g. the packages might exist outside of the writeable dir.

The same why we do every evening, smoth: it's not implemented.

Same goes for removing packages, etc.

Hello, Mighty dev!

Post by AnimatedTanker »

I like this mode alot. It brings me quite the thrill in my imagination of it. I have downloaded it and passed it on a pc and i cannot seem to make it work. I have gone into the pr downloader but i did not understand. If its not much of a problem to send a .sdz version of the game through my gmail or to give a link of it VIA dropbox. I would take the risk of patience and such.

whats the problem?

basicly you've to run "pr-downloader swiw:test" and then it should up in the game list of spring / springlobby.

pr-downloader is a console-application. run cmd.exe, cd into the dir where it is and then run pr-downloader...

in (newer) springlobby you can run can run tools->download archives and then enter "game:swiw:test"
