Sure. As before, I'll just download that whatever torrent map pack that has 95% of all existing maps, but will manually add actually playable maps to the servers. :-)

Some googling revealed the exact host names, too. PrincessHost, PrincessHost6 and PrincessHost10. How clever to name them like that.. @_@
:)

You mean add maps to the standard map cycle i presume?

This is weird. I just posted in reply to your last post and it does show that I posted the last post in this thread but the post itself doesn't show...

It says:

You are a dinosaur in the digital age. While you were sleeping, things have progressed by leaps and bounds. Today, a thousand players could summon a thousand autohosts on demand by spawning a springie. And when they are done, those autohosts return to nothingness.

No coincidence that video stores have finished their run as well.

Uh-huh. I just don't really feel like doing !dlmap for a thousand maps. It's kindofa boring. :P

Also obviously I want the hosts on my own dedicated server with my own configurations, up and running 24/7 with their own admin and map lists.

And I still use our local film store every now and then..

Send me your maplist, and I'll send you back a url-list, or go nuts in http://spring1.admin-box.com/downloads/ ... ring-maps/ or http://api.springfiles.com/files/maps/

And now I have 1700 maps. :P

Still need to set up map cycles and figure how to update the dedicated server executable..

I might want to put these back online, if not now, then at latest when BAR gets released.

Apparently I decided that deleting +1700 maps to make full server backups take less space was a good idea. Ah well!

Now need to update SPADS (I hope it's still the thing to use) and check it's still configured right!

I put them back up. I've been thinking about tuning in some more advanced features, like a tourney service that can hold tourneys over multiple days and a replay-based stat gatherer to the server to provide some very exact unit use and player statistics.

Are there existing plugins or solutions that someone could recommend for the aforementioned purposes?

Put a pair of PrincessHosts back up again and rewrote the opening post! Woah, already 4.5 years since they first appeared..

PrincessHost Duel and PrincessHost 4v4 are thus live.

Maps are as before (though *sigh* DSD is now in the "all" map list). Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the original conf files, so as of yet the original admins (not that many of them played anymore anyway) and full original settings are not restored.

With this iteration, I'm running a new, much stronger dedicated server that should remain in use for a long time to come, which hopefully means that these servers will be longer-lived now.

I'm also hoping to find the time and energy to help BA and BAR in other ways as well. May BA live forever! :-)

Oh ffs, use ghostmaps. There is no reason to have all those maps yourself.

Yeah, was going to enable that for the team server, but IIRC ghost maps don't allow fixed start positions?

Probably something to save bandwidth(for Australian users?). Nothing simpler then just having the maps yourself, especially in case of reinstalls/updates of engine. Prefer simply being able to download files into my portable spring dir over having shitty links in shitty files in shitty windows dirs.

Is spring truly portable yet? -> viewtopic.php?f=11&t=35995

SPADS feature for adding map hashes without needing a full local copy of the map. The sweet thing about it is that it works in combination with a autolearning feature, that allows SPADS to learn maps from other hosts. I like that aspect, but it's tied to engine version and to maps that are actually being played.

Anyway..

There are now ~2500 maps available on PrincessHosts in the "all" maplist! There will also be four hosts, once the mapcaching and all that is done: Duel, Small (max 3v3), Medium (max 5v5) and Large (max 8v8).
