I just picked up spring and BA a little while ago, and enjoyed the nostalgia immensely, but I hate to have to make a forum post over it - where's the manual?
new buildings, new units, new buttons, and I'm not sure what half of them do. What are those big green circles that blot out the minimap? Why do my buildings keep facing different directions with each new game? Etc etc...
Instruction manual?

Re: Instruction manual?
according everything 'new' - spectate and/or ask
green circles ? u probably mean one of the widgets bug. dont remember name but it was something with 'minimap' in name, just disable it (f11)
different direction - there is a widget which makes buildings face the middle of map (use [ and ] to rotate manualy)
i dont think there are any manuals that would explain such things :, just go and play

Re: Instruction manual?
Very basic info is here: http://springrts.com/wiki/Balanced_Anni ... ng_With_TA
There were some strategy guides here (http://springinfo.info/guides/), but the server seems to have problems - use the google-cache: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... .google.de
There is unit doc here: http://modinfo.adune.nl/index.php?MOD=ba719 (there were relatively little changes from 7.19 to 7.20).
The rest u learn by playing and specing (which is fun :).

Re: Instruction manual?
The links helped, but there are a still a few things I can't figure out, like a batch of nano turrets somehow set to auto-repair nearby structures, (which was handy) or the function of keys like 'repeat' in the left-hand pop-up when I click on a unit.
Otherwise I think I've pretty much got it, except for the wretched minimap acting up...

Re: Instruction manual?
It's a widget that switches the nanos automatically to "patrol". It's called something with idle/smart/static bulders... I dont remember - just browse through all widgets...
"Repeat" makes a unit repeat its action. That can have different (sometimes funny) effects:
Very useful: put a com/con/rez bot behind some fighting units, switch on "repeat", click "repair" and hold-left-click a radius near your units. The "repeat" does in this case, that the command doesn't wear off, once all units got repaired.
Very stupid: If you have "repeat" on and build something, than it will be reclaimed after building, and build again, and reclaim, and build and so on...
But that can help you in one situation: a rocket-unit is shooting your com, and you begin building a LLT between it and you. Then the next rocket will probably destroy the 10%-LLT and leave your com unprotected. But with repeat: immediately after loosing the LLT a new one will be build on the same spot - protecting the com again - you win some time until reinforcements arrive. (Maybe you can even finish the LLT some time :)
Same thing when getting shot at with big bertha: begin building one yourself - in front of your base - even if you don't really have the resources, because even a 0.5%-BB will catch the opponents BB-shots :)
