Nah, there has been no appreciable IW development for 2 years, whilst Zero K has been updated relentlessly
But you can't beat division by zero, can you?

Although if the only Zero-K battle is planetwars and players join that when they start out Zero-K and clan people rage about it we could have some trouble with attracting.
Either make players stop raging or set an initial level for planetwars like before.
People propably stop raging if everyone can play in planetwars without level requirements within time.

Min level makes no sense at the moment. We don't seem to be able to support multiple games at once most of the time and we don't have the player influx for new players to play each other. In effect a level limit requires new players to play games before they are able to play games. Basically we'd never gain new players.

Also level 10 is about 35 games.

Level 10 sounds abit harsh. Level 5 or level 2?
We just want to avoid the cases where people doesnt even know how to build right?

Wouldnt it be possible to require successful completition of a (rather easy) singleplayer mission?
iirc high scores are already kept.
I guess you only want to keep out "absolute" newbies who do not know how to make a single unit, while new players that simply play bad are "okay."
Missions are too hard to start for non-zkl users but new zK players will use zeroK lobby anyway.
The springlobby users are very likely to have experience with eg BA and thus will not be total fail in their first zK game.
So also allow playing PW if the playerrank is > 3 (three ^ things.)

Problem with having missions as requjirement is linux/sl crowd..
We cant track what they play, also we cant track if they play missions offline..

Tbh I would disable communism for people < level 10 to make them self learn economy.

I find this argument both eloquent and compelling and i would wholeheartedly support it if i were not completely of the opposite opinion.

First and foremost, the game should always try to reach broad audiences instead of just newbs. At this time, ZK's unlocks is one of those things that doesn't appeal to experienced players.

Make the refusal to join games client-side and only in effect when using zk lobby. The lobby would only allow the player to join pw after a mission/campaign has been completed.

The fact that sl/tasclient players would be exempt from this rule breaks nothing.

Experienced and skilled at BA and other players who are good with RTS in general. Unlocks and communism don't appeal to those players.
