No I mean it is not a limitation for spring. There are some games where ground units that are not Anti air can not attack the air, and vice versa.

Yes real tanks do shoot bombers, fighters and other flying things out of the sky.

nope, I mean that realism shouldnt be very big concern for a game of nanolathed robot armies fighting each other

Well, the flash has an emg gun that can point upward, and the physics of the engine say that emg can hit gunships, so why shouldn't it be allowed to try?

And planes definitely can't be hit by flash while they are flying, the planes are flying way too high. Unless the plane is landed, then it can obviously be hit by flash and the flash will shoot at it.

Not to mention, this particular thread was about gunships being op, letting less stuff shoot at it doesn't fix that.

The leveler uses a fast moving burnblow projectile with AoE. Flak is a fast moving burnblow projectile with AoE. The leveler basically fires flak shots. Why wouldnt it shoot at air?

CA uses the games physics system to determine what can hit air and what cant. Almost anything that has even a chance of hitting air, will try to. Its all down to the physics engine.

Anyway, on the actual topic, ZK has changed air a lot. Rapiers are more skirmisher-AA focused, banshees are more fast land attack raider focused, with much smaller range and lower flight height. I recently saw some banshees get eaten up by a pack of peewees, which quite surprised me but is the sort of thing i'd intended- land units and gunships interacting on a more even basis, with planes being the ones you really need AA to hit. Gunships form more of a bridging role.

Banshees fighting peewees and getting return fire... dammit, now I want more ZK-test games in the browser, that sounds hella-cool.

Has there been any progress on the "useless in groups of < 5, OP in groups of > 20" problem?

With shorter range and lower flight height they are much more vulnerable to aoe. Also they are a lot worse against fighters.

If you've ever played SupCom2 (Supreme Commander 2) you would know that Gunships are Over Powered... But don't hit Air units. The Wasp Fighter for the UEF Can easily swarm a Gunship and is about equal price. I say we remove the AA and nerf the Damage a bit So I can try something else besides BA :P

I disagree Fenrirr. If you've ever played Battlefield Vietnam you would know that all gunships can hit air and can even fire homing missiles. A few anti aircraft infantry, a flank tank or a fighter will easily take care of a gunship so they are quite balanced for their cost. All land units can fire at gunships and a group of basic infantry can take down even the heaviest gunship with a bit of focus fire.

C'mon. Gunships are what - a flying gun platform intended to have sweet DPS ans move fast enough to run away from massive AA. They are supposed to fly in swarms (compare to attack helicopters, they do swarm hit&run all time), kill pretty much anything that gets in range and be quite tough to kill with common AA (e.g. helicopters have neat kevlar armor plating which can stop any machinegun bullet easily, and are very resilliant to flak fire (even if hit directly)). So, gunships in 0K are supposed to look like that. The only problem is that people like to have a really effective counter to the most annoying unit. That is: flea, flashes, bombers, swarms of gunships and long-range ships.
What we have in result :
-> battlecruiser can barely outrange anything and is generally pwned by annis even when escorted.
-> pack of fighters big enough can annihilate swarm of gunships without them even having a chance (though real helicopters can shoot back quite nicely)
-> most of AA is still moving like turtle, even vehicles
-> Goliath can barely outrange t1 raider tanks (though it has like 5x bigger cannon)
-> kbot arty shoots downhill to less distance than veh arty uphill (hills from small divide), which is lame like hell.

my advice - stop nerfing shit! I wanna have cool battlecruiser that can really level a small island without having to care about hovercraft anni out there or a pack of land arty!
I want to have gunships that CAN kill AA, and not just fly away (like fighters have to)
I want to have gunships that can shoot back to fighters if harassed
I want them to be the all-rounedr unit that does not suck generally in everything.
PS: It does not mean they will be op. it means they will be useful. If someone spams 30 gunships - build 30 fighters, lure them in and pwn. 1to1 they will and already suck. pack of 10 AA spiders placed on a hill slope will take out like half of them in first shot. Ah and of course shielded AA can pwn them easily in any case.

I disagree Google. If you've ever played World of Warcraft you would know that all gunships are built by goblin and gnomish engineers for the horde and alliance respectively and are important for the icecrown citadel quest branch.

Ah but if you had played Warcraft 1 you'd know that there aren't any gunships so why are we discussing them?

What is this "Warcraft 1" you speak of? Everyone knows that the Warcraft series started with Warcraft III and there were no games before that. None at all.
