long version:

to fix some long-standing problems, the springrts.com server and the services assoicated with it (lobby.springrts.com / packages.springrts.com / buildbot.springrts.com / etc.etc.) will move to a new server.

these are some of the problems that will be (hopefully) fixed:
- "random" hangs of server
- directory listing is czech in springrts.com/dl/
- many dead/inactive accounts on the server ( -> improve security!)
- get rid of the private stuff which is running on the old server (-> simplify backup / future migrations / permissions)
- get rid of unused stuff (installed software / data / ...)

the currently planned date to change dns entries / migrate to the new server is 5.11.2014

The os will be also updated to Ubuntu 14.04. Because of this, it could take a bit until all services are working again.

The new server will have the ip 78.46.100.157.


Players should just try again at a later time if sth. doesn't work.

game/map/...-devs can contact either "spring at abma dot de" or join the irc-channel:

yep, lobby will be down. i'll try to send a broadcast message at lobbyserver. a lot of steps has to be done and a lot can fail... lets see how it will work.

Is there an outage, the server is being strange....

In springrts.com/dl/ is many old files. Looking around is like Indiana Jones, many interessting old things can be found.

Is this folder being cleaned out? In a way it is all old crap but other hand it is very interessting to see so old videos and pictures, some of them are not even on youtube or elsewhere because they are from so early time...So might be nice to keep it.

TASClient it is. Someone said SpringLobby can connect to server. Is this a part of the Lobby Wars?

TASCLient seem to be the only lobby which uses "taspringmaster.clan-sy.com" as lobby server. change to lobby.springrts.com (all other spring lobby clients use this) and it should work fine.

Changing to lobby.springrts.com didn't help but changing to 78.46.100.157 helped.

Maybe there is a : missing before port? Or TASC doesnt't get redirect command.

the old ip for lobby.springrts.com is very likely cached. in ~1 hour lobby.springrts.com should work.

atm there is no plan about cleaning this folder up.

Melbot, SLRelayMaster & TasClient seems to use wrong dns name / hardcoded ip. i don't know contact details for the owners, would be great if they could fix this/or someone contact them.

also i've disabled the lobby redirect on the old server as TTL for dns is 4 hours and dns change was >4 hours. this way we see errors instantly and not when the old server is gone.

Updated taspringmaster.clan-sy.com to point to lobby.springrts.com!

Judging from my own limited experience, switching servers with several services running is not what I would call fun work. So...
