Patch/feature freeze for 0.75

Post by Tobi »

Since I plan to release friday, saturday or sunday if everything goes alright (if not, it will be somewhere in august), I decided only patches officially submitted before July 1st may still be committed.

As far as I am aware, the following patches submitted before July 1st are still "open":
http://spring.clan-sy.com/mantis/view.php?id=525 (shouldn't be committed at all, in current state)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/mantis/view.php?id=528 (only the second patch)
http://spring.clan-sy.com/mantis/view.php?id=553 (I'm looking at this one)

None of them are release blocking if they are not committed.

Other patches that add features will have to wait till after the release. Of course patches that fix bugs can be applied no matter what :-)

Also it should be obvious that I'd also like it if you didn't commit code that has a high chance to cause regressions next few days. Things that are still open and bugfixes are all fine; I trust anyone with commit access to know what they are doing :-)

EDIT: updated patch list

The dynamic damage patch is very very important to S:44.

Release went quite well IMHO (considering the loooong time since last release and the amount of features added).

As far as I know there are 3 major bugs in 0.75b1:
- netcode (unknown net msg in read ahead + accompanying crashes/desyncs)
- crash if client loads too fast compared to host
- keyboard localization broken

First two have been fixed already. I have no clue about the third yet. Couldn't find any changes that may have influenced it in Main.cpp, Game.cpp, KeySet.cpp or KeyCodes.cpp.

I'll release a 0.75b2 later this week (wednesday probably), so please refrain from committing non-trivial non-bugfix things for a few days.

Yes, I forgot but *congratulations* on the release!
A great new leap forward! :-)
I think it's a good release, the bugs were more or less expected but it's good to remind people that this is still a beta open source community project. ;-)
I expect the .75 release series will give a solid base to build on.

Congratulations. I was surprised when I wasn't mentioned as a contributer, then I though and realized I hadn't done anything. I'll do better this time.

It's still crashing randomly during startup even with SVN version.

Especially apparent with autohost.
Autohosts delay spring start by 2s (after clients were notified).

Do all clients need SVN version to make it work?

The bug fixed in r3977?

Regarding that bug all clients should use it.

Hm that's a "bug" on my side, I think you actually did something earlier in the release cycle. Will be fixed now :P

Its probably different bug. Its crashing host itself (not clients).

Could be related to the fact, that autohosts start with spring minimized and hidden.

Any stacktrace then?

Never mind
Lua crashes I was experiencing were probably related to synced code change and mismatch between host and client version.
