Differentiate colour of queued buildings

Post by Jools »

Queued building will always show up as a green rectangle (yellow for allies).

It would be nice if queued buildings would show up as green when they are relevant to the selected unit, and blue otherwise. That is, buildings planned by not selected units of same player would show up as blue.

Like in Total Annihilation.

I have no idea what you are talking about but if this is about the menu, lua it.

No, about when you press shift to place buildings and previous build orders are shown - including those issued to other constructors.

(Hodor. Rip it all out and make some easy way for lua to draw build placements hodor, hodor.)

oh, ok. I would rather not see MORE hardcoded gfx like that. would rather see it broken out and added as a widget to spring's base code that way we can alter it however we want.

You know, quality is in the details.

I looked some more, and actually there is a way to see what current constructor is building: it will have the queued buildings ghosted, whereas a non-selected constructor will just have an empty green rectangle.

In that case it's not as essential to improve this, but if those rectangles could be made of different colour without much effort, then of course this change would make the game even better.

Why? All games have buildings that can be queued.
