bloom effect.

Re: bloom effect.
Bloom is realistic and nice, except that every engine that has bloom has to shout OMG BLOOM at the top of its lungs and crank it up to obscene rates.
In the real world, your eyes adjust to the brightness of the scenery. When a subset of the scenery goes over that limit, you get blooming (and a host of other effects) until the iris can adjust (if possible - if a scene has too much range between light and dark there is no proper iris setting to both handle the light and make out the dark). Happens with eyes, cameras, everything. Bloom is realistic, and pretty.
It's just that most engines with blooming go nuts with it. Bloom should be subtle. Most photographers and movies go out of their way to avoid bloom, because it ruins the shot.

Re: bloom effect.
Hmm now it would be nice for the bloom to have a mask and multiply it with the shading so there's only bloom from the light direction unless it's a 2D filter.

Re: bloom effect.
I have a picture of the bloom when used subtly at home on my pc. I'll post it tonight. Kloots bloom stuff is nice and pretty close to there.

The default effect is much more subtle, no need to wear sunglasses:
vs.
Rattle: it's a post-processing filter, so no masks.
