[Ubuntu] Ground textures black -- Nvidia

Post by brodul »

Hi,

I am a sysadmin in a hackerspace and we are trying to organize a spring event.
We have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installed. all PCs have Nvidia graphic cards

Some info about versions:

Code: Select all

Package: spring-engine
Version: 0.82.7.1-0ubuntu1~10.04~ppa1

Package: springlobby
Version: 0.123-0ubuntu1~10.04~ppa1
Teh FPS are passable.

BUG:
About 3 min after game start the textures of the ground change to "black"

Screenshots:

I hope you are using the closed source drivers... are you?

Try meddling with the settings. Maybe it has something to do with luashaders or the like... (they give me trouble on ATI sometimes).

Something is influencing the opengl context creation (window manager?).
Instead of using Spring's fullscreen config option, start Spring in window mode instead and then use your window manager to make it fullscreen (-> right click on the window's caption bar).

Sorry for a late reply.
jK: You were right.

I forgot to disable the extra visual effects in gnome.

Resolution:
Go to System->Preferences->Appearance and disable the visual effects.
